Mine doesn’t do that, could it be something on or near your brake pedal linkage? Or frozen brakes clunking?

Could it be the pedal itself? (a beer can under the pedal does that too, lol.)
Edit, maybe brake linkage hitting something when you press the brake?

It could be the plastic plunger on the brake switch activating.

About 6 months ago I was cleaning my truck and I found a small rubber dampener on my floor liner. Since then, when I put enough pressure on the brake, and even today it happens I get a click.

there is a return spring in the brake pedal. If it doesn’t have the rubber peice on it , it will make a click

Brake-pedal stopper pad / rubber bumper There’s a little rubber stopper on the brake pedal arm that hits a plastic switch when you press the pedal (it tells the ECU the brakes are on so it can kill cruise control, shift out of park, turn off brake lights, etc.).

On a bunch of 2023–2025 4Runners (and Tacomas, Land Cruisers, etc.) that rubber piece hardens or shrinks a hair and starts making a single faint “tick” or “click” every time the pedal is pressed or released — engine running or not, hot or cold.

    • Doesn’t affect braking at all
    • Doesn’t throw any codes
    • Just an annoying little tick you notice because the cabin is so quiet
The 2-Minute Permanent Fix (Costs $3–$8)
Toyota sells the updated stopper pad under part 47121-12020 (about $4 at the dealer or $3 on Amazon/RockAuto). Literally a 60-second job:

    1. Pop the driver-side lower dash panel off (two clips)
    2. Reach up behind the brake pedal, pry the old rubber stopper out with a flathead
    3. Push the new one in until it clicks
    4. Done — tick gone forever
    Could it be this???

Yes it is that. At least for me. I have the dampener in my glove box. Maybe one day I’ll do it myself. But it doesn’t bother me, no braking issues, and I don’t want to bring my truck to the dealer.
Sometimes it clicks, sometimes it doesn’t. It just suppressing the noise that the spring makes. I can see how it could be a little annoying
