This is my first post in these forums, looking for some advice on the 4runner I just picked up. Bought it from my neighbor for $1400, he told me it needed some from end work so I took it to my mechanic and put $3200 into it to get it all dialed in. When i picked it up from the mechanic, he said that the engine was running rough and needs a new engine and a turbo rebuild. Basically, he said that it was going to take $5500-6500 in order to have a perfectly running 4runner. I know these turbos are rare and dont come up for sale too often, so I was wondering if anyone had any advice, whether i should do the work or flip it? It has some surface rust on the roof but no holes or bubbles and the interior is pretty clean. Any advice is helpful, this is the 2nd 1st gen 4runner that i have owned, sold my first one a year ago and completely regretted it, so if i sold this one i would buy another one asap. Thanks
