Toyota has been making sewing machines since the mid-‘40s. Legend holds that the Toyota logo, with its intersecting ovals, is a representation of the motion of sewing machine needle and a rotary hook.

 

This I did not know. Chalked up to my new thing learned today.

A middle trim level will run about 55k USD out the door when converted.
Extremely expensive considering it sits slightly below the 4runner.

 

In Sri Lanka (South Asia). There's ton of Prados but not much market for Fortuners.

^Looks like Toyota had to put the fuel tank behind the rear axle (where the spare tire is on a GX460). If Toyota tried this in the US, they'd be sued into oblivion within 24 hours:

I had this '18 2WD SR for two years. It was a nice, basic truck, but man, even with no t-case or front axle and 4.30 gears, that 2.7L was slow. And the base six-speaker sound system was really bad.

 

They have 2 tanks. That's the auxiliary tank. Main tank is the same location as 4Runners and GX have.

 

^Really? The 4Runner/GX's fuel tank is already close to the transfer case. How would it fit with a drastically shorter wheelbase?

I don't know about the short wheel base 2 door one. The 4 door ones have 2 fuel tanks 80something and 60something with a total of 150 liters. Too lazy to google exact numbers at 10pm in the night. LoL.

You don't have to go that far, or rather in the other direction ;-)
Here in Europe, Toyota only officially offers the Landcruiser (Prado), RAV 4, and the Hilux pickup in this category.
The Landcruiser is also often seen here in the short 2-door version.
We just don't have that much space on the roads and in parking lots.
Sequoia, 4Runner, Tundra, and Tacoma are very exotic here and only available as individual imports.
