I'm attaching a youtube of a couple of Bro's installing front lift struts by releasing the UCA at the ball joint. See at approximately 3 min in the video. It strikes me as a pretty decent way to go and not have to fiddle with the LCA adjustment points so the alignment shop can be working from baseline after the lift.

That said, I can't say these guys inspire confidence. Please feel free to poke holes in this approach and tell me why this is a bad idea.

^If you don't loosen the LCA cam bolts, bushing bind will prevent the LCA from dropping free to give you enough room to maneuver the lower shock mount out of its pocket in the LCA. You'll need a 4-ft pry bar to hold down the LCA. They conveniently cut out that part at 03:24 in the video, and didn't show any footage of the longer Eibach shock being wrestled into position.

In a shop with the vehicle on a 2-post lift, it's common to use a pry bar the size of a hockey stick for this purpose, but you need a lot of swing space: https://www.amazon.com/Astro-Tools-78914-Lower-Control/dp/B01JBJLVBW

If you paint mark the LCA alignment tabs, and unbolt the bottom ball joint carrier, you can install springs and struts without a spring compressor and get your alignment back to home. alignment will need to be adjusted anyway, so who really cares if it’s not exactly where it started..

Thanks. I'm familiar with the process for the LCA and I already have replacement struts assembled and ready to go.
I just didn't pick up on the fatal flaw for that UCA/BJ release method.

If you have to ask if it's a bad idea, it probably is. ;)
