Is It For Sale? (It Happened Again)

OK this is now the fourth time this has happened to me since I bought my 2022 SR5 Premium 4WD in November of 2023.

Yesterday, wifey snd I came out of a restaurant after having lunch, to a note under my windshield wiper. It says- “I’d like to buy your 4Runner”. (And then a phone number on the note)

I’ve posted here about this happening at least once before.
Wifey said maybe you should sell it. I said and then get what, an over-priced, over-complicated sixth gen with a tiny piss ant 4 cylinder engine? No thanks.

I’ve never had this phenomenon happening with any other vehicle I’ve owned. lol.

Is anyone else experiencing this note on the windshield deal regarding their fifth gens?

 

I haven’t had that experience with my 5th Gen but had similar experiences with my former 1st Gen Tacoma. Take it as a compliment and move on. I still regret selling my Tacoma.

 

I'm still waiting for the note that says, "I want to sleep in your 4Runner for a million dollars."

 

I'd ignore it. If they were willing to pay market rate they could find one easily.

 

Could also be some type of scam. Probably not but tossing it out just in case.

 

My rig is so badass people leave notes that read "I want to sleep WITH your 4Runner for a million dollars."

 

This is what happens when you park in front of the drug rehab facility and leave the raptor lights on.

Never once happened to me and I've had far too many cars over the years. Either they don't have access to the internet where there are 100's upon 100's for sale, or it's a scam. Just my guess.

 

Put a for sale sign on it for 189,000. Should stop then.

 

Dealers in my area do that a lot on vehicles they can turn fast. Gen 5 Runners turn fast if they’re priced reasonably. Ignore it.

 

I had that happen twice with my 2007 V8 but never with my 5th gen.

I had a 1990 Nissan 240SX and I used to get approached often while fueling by young people asking if they could purchase my car. I asked one what about the car made some people want it. The reply? The drifting crowd likes them because the car is so well balanced. Eventually, that was the way that I sold it.

 

I agree... Someone is hoping to get a deal.

 

It’s a nice looking runner for sure, but there are a lot of weirdos out there anymore so I think I’d ignore the note. The runners around here used on the lot don’t last long on the dealer lots if they are in good condition but you can find them if you take your time and look

 

There's too many out there on lots.

 

I get quite a lot of offers to buy my house but not my 4Runner. A note writers fingers would cramp up before he could drop a note on every T4R around here.

 

Well at least you know that if you get jammed up, it will be easy to sell. My 2018 Tacoma sold quickly, private sale

 

When you go somewhere just put a note on your dash saying "NOPE"

 

i did 1 time on my 2011 and 1 time with my 2022. I wouldnt sell either one. Dont sell yours

 

In my area people don't ask. You walk out to an empty parking spot where your late-model Toyota once was...

If you do a reverse lookup on the phone number, does it happen to be a used car salesman?

 

The thing I find most interesting is that this same thread exists on every automotive forum I'm on.

 

Yeah, the car flippers always do this to see who would bite and take a low ball offer. Nothing new or specific to 4Rs. Someone put a note on my 2005 Corolla a few years ago, with its beat up quarter panels and all.

 

hahaha agreed. Perhaps people just want to make themselves feel good about their vehicle(s)

 

Did I mention the "your car is in demand we want to buy it!!!" emails I get from car dealers?

 

I'm calling bullshit. You keep posting this. Nobody is leaving notes begging you to sell your average, run of the mill 4Runner.
