I’ve been lurking around the forum for a while, there is a lot of knowledge and good advice here. I don’t have a 4Runner yet, I am on the waitlist for a Pro. No idea when that will happen though. I’ve considered just getting an ORP and being done with it. I’m not likely to mod my vehicle too much but I will drive it into the ground. I spend a lot of time surfing, camping and hiking and plant to put a roof top tent on my new 4Runner pretty quickly.

The pro has some cosmetic stuff, suspension, but otherwise kinda the same. Since you will take off the roof rack anyway and it seems you’ll spend a lot of time on the beach, new tires and you are set.

I always suggest people to save money and buy ORP over Pro. If you are someone who do not like to mod I highly suggest you buy TRD Pro.

Doing mods for a ORP needs lots of research, patience and a passion to build it the way you want. Even simple as picking the right suspension, like do you need high speed trail driving, do you need best comfort, do you need lot of wheel articulation, do you need to carry heavy loads (like rooftop tent, drawer system with all your camping gear,etc..).
If you don't want that just get the Pro. Toyota has done their research and picked up a fairly good setup.
