I bought the 2004 4-runner on Sunday she has 218,000 but she crnks right up oil was clean and it isnt burning oil.. interior is great, strong engine... But yesterday i was hauling about 15 2X6's and she started to seem like the clutch was slipping. i had to coax it, manually up shifting.. Amazingly i was able to get her home! i had a friend run a diagnostic but it was with a cheap $20 reader..
    The codes are as follows
P0051: HEATER CONTROL SENSOR 1 CIRCUIT LOW BANK 2
    P0771: SHIFT SOLENOID E
P0751: SHIFT SOLENOID A PERFORMANCE STUCK OFF
P2714: PRESSURE CONTROL SOLENOID B PERFORMANCE STUCK OFF
P2757: TORQUE CONVERTOR CLUTCH PRESSURE CONTROL SOLENOID CONTROL CIRCUIT
    P2757: PERFORMANCE STUCK OFF
i cant seem to find a website with my year make and model of truck and that explains all these codes with solutions. im worried that im gonna have to have a rebuilt 4wheel tranny into her..
ive been trying to find some ODB2 ELM327 Toyota Diagnostic Software so i can go much more in depth with her problems...but i cant seem to find any free or inexpensive software out there..
when i had my 2012 ford fusion i downloaded diagnostic software from the ford site for free. does toyota offer the same? or does anyone have a better ODB2 diag software recommendations... Also from my codes that are already present is this just a few faulty solenoids or am i going to have to replaced the whole transmission!!!!1
    NEED HELP PLEASE!!!
    Thanks,
    Allen Duckworth

    Welcome to the forum!

Did you check the transmission fluid level? Just to eliminate the possibility that it's low.

Otherwise, that sounds like a lot of issues for the transmission.

$1K is dirt cheap for a 4th gen, so even if you have to find and install a transmission it might still be a good deal.

I forgot they did that. Hmmmm. I think there might be a way to check it still, but it might be tricky. Low fluid is the only thing I could think of that would explain all of those problems and not require a ton of work.

It appears there's a reason it was only $1,000.00...

I think you bought half 4Runner, half someone else's problems. But stuff can be fixed. Best wishes!

You bought a 4Runner for $1000 and expected it to not have some sort of major problem???

Thank you I'm going to change the flush and fill the tranny fluid today I've watched about 10 YouTube videos on it.... And it's just pretty much like changing the oil except taking off the pan and having to pump the fluid back in.
Still knocking on wood I hope that fixes the problem but if not I found the solenoids the AE and C brand new on Amazon Prime for pretty cheap, and with the 04 transmission there right there when you take off the tranny pan..

Well man she cranked right up and she was strong or it was clean she wasn't burning any oil, and before I bought it I drove it for 2 days and I didn't feel any slipping and the transmission but I could not check the transmission fluid cuz it's sealed well I mean I could have but I just didn't I just assumed that since I didn't feel slippage or hesitation or jerking that it was okay I mean yes I did expect problems just not that quickly!!
