Hey all! Traded my 2012 Ram 1500 in for a 2021 4R Venture a few weeks ago. I loved my truck but just didn't need that much vehicle anymore (hubby has a F150 and we don't need two trucks). I also wanted all of my cargo space inside the cab.

I've never owned a Toyota vehicle before but I took my Venture for one test drive and fell head over heels! I've owned it for 3 weeks now and I can't recall being this giddy to have to drive somewhere! I seriously grin like the devil as I grab my keys.. even if I'm just heading to the post office. We live between the Sierra Madres and the Snowies (two mountain ranges in southern Wyoming, just north of the Colorado border) so it's the perfect playground for my new rig.

I've done a few upgrades already, including K&N air filters, and plan to do more as I mold this beautiful rig into my own. I look forward to chatting with all of you and swapping ideas and stories.

Welcome from Michigan and congrats---you may want to look into some sort of frame rust prevention before the snow flies for your new 4Runner. Lots of people use fluid film and other products you can search on this forum. Just a heads up since yours is new.

Thanks everyone! Such a welcoming reception here.. makes me a little less sad about saying goodbye to my friends over at the Z (RamForumz). I haven't taken a lot of shots of my new rig yet but here's a picture from Day 1. I took this as a way to remember the trade and also to compare the ride height difference.. with the Yakima rack, we weren't positive that it would fit in the garage. It did.. barely!! the top of the rack rubbed the weatherstripping of the garage door opening, but she fit by golly! We've since removed and sold the rack as we don't think we'll use it much (like, ever).

Thanks for the suggestion. Are these rigs known for attracting rust badly? It's not new, just new to me (21,200 miles at time of purchase). The previous/original owner did it right with the lift, larger tires/rims and front paint protection. I'll have to see if I can tell if any rust prevention was done to the frame at all. According to the dealer and the CarFax report, the vehicle was registered and lived in Colorado so they may have had some kind of rust protection added since it gets nearly as bad there in the winter as it does here in southern Wyoming.

Congratulations on the ride. Yeah the frame can be a weak spot but it’s new enough i am sure to get it protected.

Some people get fluid film sprayed on it annually, others use woolwax, some get more of the traditional undercoating applied.

there are a lot of good threads in this if you do a search.

I was fortunate to join this forum six months before I got mine and learn about this stuff.

I am not sure when the snow starts to fly in Wyoming but I just thought you might like to consider getting something done before you have it for your first winter.
