I drove about 45 miles to get mine. How far did you go to pick up yours?

25 miles. Dealer had exact model and color I was after with moonroof and no KDSS. Matched an offer I got online from a competing dealer and made it too easy. If I wanted to play hardball, maybe I could have gotten an extra 500-1000 off (based on other out the door prices I saw online). Best part of it for me, I was ready to buy 1 with 100 miles on it and he gave me one he had in the back lot with 7.

Bought my 2024 the 1st weekend after the 6th gen was announced. Demand seemed to pick up shortly after.

I never bought a new vehicle before and no regrets over a year later.

Hi. Drove to Vegas, 118 miles from where I live in St George, UT. I don’t have pics of the car yet. I just bought it last week. Uninteresting and long story, but I actually went to Vegas to buy a new Lexus (no Lexus dealerships here). Now I have a 2025 Trailhunter with a noisy snorkel and an air compressor . Quite a departure from the Lexus I’ve been dreaming of for the past decade. Life…. Enjoy the moments. I will say the 4 Runner gets an awesome ride (it doesn’t have the bumpy truck ride I was expecting) it’s quiet if the windows are up (can’t hear the noisy snorkel) it’s very comfortable, and the tech toys are perfectly suited to my personality. It’s been in the triple digits here with no relief in sight, so I’m really appreciating the cooled seats - awesome.

Went across town (40 miles) 3 times to look at a 2016 Pro. The one I bought (2019 TRD ORP), I didn't even consider until the 2nd time there. I swear it had a fuel pump recall when I looked at the Carfax. We installed a new battery and new tires, and drove 2,000 miles the next day.

Similar story. I was in the hunt for No KDSS + heated seats + no moonroof + classic silver. But had to get one with moonroof.

But for my Limited I found the one I wanted at the dealership closest to my house but has the worst pricing. I wanted my Limited to be 3rd row, automatic running boards and classic silver.

12 miles. I am not a believer in buying from an out of town dealer.

If you do need warranty service, I believe that it’s best to take the vehicle back to your selling dealer, providing you’re not traveling out of town and need an “emergency” warranty repair.

My concern is if you buy out of town, and need warranty help, or need factory help on an issue, a dealer may be less likely to go to bat for you if you didn’t buy your vehicle from them initially.

Or, if you take your vehicle in for warranty repairs to a dealer you didn’t buy it from, you run the risk of getting placed on the back burner so to speak, if the service department is busy, because they are watching to see where your vehicle was purchased, and you may get placed to the back of the list, as the dealer will want to prioritize taking care of their customers who actually bought from them first.

It shouldn’t happen, but it does. Don’t tell me I’m full of sh_t, because I’ve seen it happen on more than one occasion, and have also heard this from relatives and friends over many years.

I’ll buy my vehicles from the closest local Toyota dealer. And we have a good one near us- Cedar Park Toyota.

10 miles. There is another Toyota dealer about 8 miles away in the opposite direction, but we stopped doing business with them a few years back.

I drove 700 miles (1,400 round trip) to get my used 2019 Off Road Premium....

I wanted an Off Road for the rear locker, but it couldn't have a sunroof. I'm too tall to fit in models with a sunroof. I also wanted a 2019 or earlier, because I wanted a real key. Also wanted a specific color.

My final requirement was rust free. Like, totally clean.

I found a 4Runner for sale at a dealership in St Louis that had low miles and had spent the first part of it's life in Arizona. Chatted with the salesman, got detailed pictures of the undercarriage, agreed on a price (which was surprisingly good), and we hit the road.

Drove down from the UP, checked out the vehicle, bought it, and drove home the next day.

It turned out to be exactly what we were looking for and we have put 20K miles a year on it since we purchased it. Made several trips out west, and have more planned.

40 miles each way but I have driven 200 miles each way for my last deal on a 2019 FX4 Ranger XLT. I got a loaner status car with 2000 miles on it for 10k off, sold it 3 years later for what I paid for it. the equity I built was my down payment for my townhome lol... COVID sucked but my truck value went nuts back then.

if the deal make sense with travel, I'm willing to drive anywhere in the US for a good deal and turn it into a roadtrip vacation.

    1700 miles (one way).

Flew up there. Dealer picked me up from the airport and I drove it back home. Made for a great roadtrip.

Mine was at a Subie dealer about 50 miles away. If I was smart I would have bought one 2,500 mi away in a western area so it would be rust free LOL.

Funny story about how I found mine. I had been looking for a 2014 and up because I didn't like the way my friends 2011 SR5 looked. Well, one morning I got on CarGurus and forgot to set the filters. A 2013 Trail came up, and I was like "woah, what the heck is that?!. That looks awesome for a pre-2014".

At that point I hadn't really been a 4Runner fan previously, so I had no idea that this model even existed. Went to look at it and fell in love with it, and I'm biased but I still say that the early Trails are the best looking fifth gens.

Also kind of funny, and why I never talk smack about Jeep guys, I had also been seriously considering a Wrangler Unlimited, and the guys on Wrangler Forum steered me towards the 4Runner after I told them my intended use and budget. Lots of highway driving, camping, not too much serious off-roading. They said the 4Runner would be much more comfortable to live with, and more reliable over the long term.

325 mi. one-way to Denver after being wait listed at four dealers (three in Denver and the local dealer here in Durango) for five months to get the ORP with KDSS and moonroof in lunar rock that I wanted. No big deal because my daughter lives in Denver and I dropped off my 2015 TP with only 60,000 miles on it that she was buying from me :)

IMG_5107.jpg IMG_3383.jpg Reading through these posts thought I knew things about the 4runner … I’m learning more about them , didn’t even know that a fifth GEN was available without a moon roof o_O. drove approximately 150 miles one way to pick up a 2018 SR5 four-wheel-drive Super White, 78k miles The owner was policeman up in that area but needed a truck so he gave me a great deal on it.
I did learn about the third row seating as I was shopping and I know I didn’t want that. Also, I was looking for an off-road edition, but that was nowhere to be found with what I could afford. I’ve had this for about two years now and I’m very very happy with her Also, I believe it’s a SR5 premium? Because it has the faux leather seats and power seats and sunroof, moonroof, ?
What she looks like now and the very day that I bought her

How does a fella find a local Master Toyota mechanic? I’d love to find one of those guys nearby.

I bought mine from work. The company owner bought it, it was too high, so she got a Mercedes. So, then it was a foreman's truck. Kind of undercut him and he left so I got it.

About 20 miles. But, while I was waiting for it, they accidentally shipped it totally across country (Seattle) by mistake. Cost me two extra weeks in waiting. Not a happy camper at the time.

TLDR: 1,109 miles to find it, 31 miles to pick it up.

After looking in Metro Atlanta for a year, with no must haves other than a 4th Gen 4WD with a sunroof, I decided to get creative. We went on vacation to the Outer Banks of North Carolina, and on the way back, I called every Toyota dealer in the towns along the way. At Toyota of Greenville, SC - bingo! They had just taken in a 2007 Sport 4WD V6 with a sunroof and 97K miles. Clean frame (though I didn’t know to look for that at the time) and just pristine inside and out. It was even silver (yeah, Titanium blah blah), the color I like most. Ended up buying it and they were kind enough to ship it at no charge down to Nalley Toyota in metro Atlanta. Almost 11 years and 178K miles later (total is about to roll over to 275K), it’s still hands down the best vehicle I’ve ever owned. This is actually from this morning.

15 miles but I got it shipped from out-of-state.

I would’ve gone farther for the right 4th gen but eh. Considered a flaming deal on a Borrego once I would’ve flown to but it wasn’t meant to be.

I looked at three 4th gens across my city before finding this 5th gen at a run-down used car dealer 3 miles from home.
