On my old 4Runner, I had an OEM Bug deflector, but near as I can tell it is unavailable now. Does anyone have a recommendation of an aftermarket one?

This is what I have. I bought it about two months ago? Love the look. It's the husky high-profile (not the low! That is the kind that sticks to the paint).

do you guys take yours through car washes? (When I had my last 4Runner, it was hand washed only, but that might not be an option for this one, suddenly wondering what a car wash will do to these)

I have a car wash membership and go through at least twice a week. Never had an issue. Had one on my 2021 as well. Not a problem.

I hand wash all of my cars. Even my wifes Mazda CX5 stays out of car washes. They beat the piss out of your paint with everyone elses dirt

This is the word of the Lord. Amen. Could not pay me to take a car through a car wash.

But some have more time than others, live in different climates etc etc... which I understand.

I have the OEM piece on my 2024. There was a part number change for it where 4Runners that came with Toyota Safety Sense use an updated version that should not interfere with the camera behind the windshield.

I recently looked into the car wash issue and yes, they do beat the crap out of your paint! They leave fine scratches too. Some of them also use acid and other chemicals to dissolve the dirt quickly. My runner will not be going into one!

I was considering putting a hood protector on but I was worried it would beat the crap out of my hood with the wind. Do you find that happening with the ones you use?

No, just stay away from the stick-on ones. I had one on my F-150 that came loose while I was driving and flapped into the hood, actually gouging the metal before breaking off.

Thanks. And for the record, I take my 4Runner through the car wash a lot. I have one of those yearly passes, so I get my truck washed 4 - 5 times per week.

It has not damaged the bug guard at all.

AVS, Husky, and Weathertech are the exact same part. AVS recently rebranded all the hood deflectors under Husky (same company). While Weathertech resells the same part at greater markup.

Mine is AVS from a year ago. (Yes that's the box it came in.)

That’s what I thought, they all look exactly alike. It made buying one more of a pain. Wish I bought one about 32k miles ago

Me too. I bought mine about two months ago and I wish I would have bought it the day I picked up my 4Runner.

After the third round of doing touch up’s on the rock chips I finally did it. The guard covers up a few small chips that I didn’t fix very well.

i disagree about being all the same part. Mine weathertech wraps around more and hugs the hood more than say Borrachos Husky.

Heck, they pay The Borracho Loco to swing by the joint that often, when other people see his sweet emaculate ride coming & going looking like that…… they are pulling in for washings …… no better advertisement ..
