Hitch mount swing out tire carrier

Toyota should have done something like that, in the first place....instead of stashing the spare under the truck. They could have done it like the Isuzu Troopers ( 1984-2006) ..myself, not a big fan of going underneath for the spare...

not a huge price difference and I believe you get more from Westcott design

 

They definitely have a lot going on with this one. It would be nice if we could consolidate a bunch of hitch mounts here in one place, for members to browse through.

 

At that price point may as well save for a full rear bumper.

some Amazon reviewers state they carry 33’s on them, so if they do this would be the best bang for the buck.

used to run a wilco offroad myself...traded it for a RTT with another local 4runner owner

 

I think you might have a lot of stress on that with a 33” tire on it bouncing around. There is no support for lateral sway.

 

For under $100 it wouldn’t hurt to try. One of the reviewers posted it with a 295/70/17, which is what I need so I may bite the bullet.
I would imagine buying a hitch stabilizer would make it work just fine.

found the thread on tacomaworld of the hitch, sold on the idea and cost.

 

I would call Jeff at Westcott design and see if they can do a slim version of their rack. He tig welds his stuff and it comes out super sharp. I believe you get a lot of bang and flexibility for your buck. Also yeah it costs a bit more than the $100 option that is available at Home Depot.
