Hey pep well i got a winch but i want to keep the original bumper. I have been looking for a hidden winch mount but havent had much luck. Was wondering if anyone has done a diy one or where to get one. Looking for suggestion.

Check out @BAMF and their online inventory. I believe Jerry still has some hidden winch mounts available.

C4 fab is what I put on mine. you have to cut the center portion out but it’s the best of both worlds in my opinion.

I have the SDHQ and Warn VR8. I'm very pleased. Here's my installation notes and pics: [IMG]

Here’s a stock photo of the jerryberrybought (former pelfrey) hidden winch mount. One question I have regarding theses is...how do you access the winch to switch from free spool to spool?

I think someone on the other site made something to reach down to it from inside the hood.

It's quite easy to access both remote plug and clutch through the holes. Obviously if you use your winch 7 times a day it might get old popping the hood but for the light use most of us might buy a winch for, it's no big deal. I actually don't even leave the positive cable attached to battery on my winch. So my technique is pop hood, attach positive cable via thumb bolt, plug in remote, manipulate clutch, drag line, manipulate clutch, close hood to a few inches of latching, winch.

That's not an issue considering the trim appearance of the hidden winch, the low weight, and the low cost. Read my link, it has more info.

I read through your write up on the other forum. Not a bad solution to the problem. I know when I had my ARB and warn winch on my previous 4R I mounted the control box under the hood behind the pass light and in front of the air box. Felt it was safer there instead of out in the open where someone could access it and fuck with the winch. Makes sense to keep the power disconnected since it’s not fused.
