When I start my 2019 4Runner SR5, when it’s cold or has been sitting awhile, I crank the normal amount for the engine to start, but instead of firing right up, it hesitates and stumbles like it’s not going to start, so I have to hold the starter longer to get it to start. After the vehicle runs for awhile it usually starts like normal. It has about 70,000 kilometres on it. It’s the original battery, but the battery still seems to have lots of cranking power. Any ideas what could be causing this?

You have to rule out the basics. Start with the battery - take your 4R to any auto parts store and they will test your battery, alternator and starter for free.

This is the 3rd gen forum. You should ask in the 5th gen forum.

This makes no sense. He says it's cranking fine. The computer is not firing it up properly.

lol, always start with basics. Its a 6 year old battery and what does "the computer is not firing up properly" even mean?

I know I’m sorry I didn’t realize I was in the 3rd gen section when I posted. I posted again in the 5th gen section. Thank you for your help.
