    Hi all,

Have any one tried 285/70 R17 tires on 2019 or newer or same design 4runner Limited with stock front bumper? Can I please see what trimming you did?

I'm trying to see if I can fit 285/70 R17 on mine. I currently have 20in wheels. I got 17 wheels and trying do decide 275 vs 285.

Thanks in advance for your help.

(This post is only applicable to 4runner Limited with this generation.)

Wheel specs will determine the tire fitment, but I think 285’s on a stock limited is unrealistic unless it’s lifted. That front bumper is huge.
2014-2019 limited is the same exact vehicle, I’m sure if you search you’ll find pictures.

I got there TRD ORP wheels. I wasn't able to find Limited with 285s with stock bumper.

I got 2.5 in front and 1.5 rear lift.

You should be good, might just need to do the fender liner mod and trim your bumper a bit. Nothing crazy.

I'm not sure. That's why I'm trying to see if any Limited owner did that.

For reference here's the pic of my Limited with 275/55R20 which is almost same as stock size, just 0.3inch taller. Look how small space there is.

Compare that to the space I have on my TRD ORP with 285/70 R17.

You’ll probably have to trim quite a bit.
    Here is a 2.5” lifted limited with 285/70/17 KO2.

I guess I have to settle for 275/70R17.

I was planning for 285 non LT (SL) A/Ts for the Limited since the softest A/T I can get for 275/70R17 is Load C on Falken Wildpeaks.

Or I should talk to discount tire and see if they are ok to fit front two 285s from my TRD ORP to my Limited and let me drive around the block. I doubt they would be happy to keep one of their lifts not making profit. But I would definitely buy the tires from them as I don't trust other tire places for good workmanship for tire balance and tpms swap from 20s to 17s.

I just tried 285/70r17 spare tire on my Limited. I have bad news. I have to see what kind of trimming I can do.20201227_181244.jpg 20201227_181250.jpg 20201227_180914.jpg

You can just do the fender liner mod which is extremely easy to do, and should fix any rubbing.Maybe some very very minor shaving of the front bumper.

Yeah I will see how Limited can do this. It was pretty easy on my TRD ORP, but Limited fender liner seems little different. Will definitely share how it goes. Will take plenty time and do it slowly.

Bigger A/T LT Tires, Slight Lift, Sliders, Rack, Lights, etc.
FTR the 275 Wildpeak is only .2" further from that fender than the 285 K02 is.

Also, does the spare tire wheel have the same offset as the regular TRD OR wheel?

Either way, yeah, looks like you'll need some trimming for sure. GL!

Honestly I didn't check the off set between the 2. I just did a quick test last night to see. I think I can make it work without much trouble. Would be nice to have one size.

    All of them.
I’d do the fender line mod and see where that gets you. Also remember a heat gun can come in handy if it’s just barely still hitting the fender liner. I did this on mine when I put in 285’s and took all of 5 minutes

So are any of you guys running 285/70R17s on you limiteds? or any sub 33" tires ?

I'm torn between running 255/80R17 and 285/70R17. I also have a silver limited, trying to get away from the 20's. I want to go for the 33" size and I do have a 2.5" spacer lift on front and 1.5" spacer lift on rear. Auto running boards so I don't think I have mudflaps and I do have a set of TRD OR wheels ready for tires.

I would love if you guys can post pictures.

I have no issues doing any mods to get them to not rub but I'm trying to stay away from a BMC or cutting into bumper covers.

    285's done..
4Runner Limited with 17 wheels and 285/70R17 tires.
Had to push the inner fender liner to clear the rubbing.

2016 Limited. 285/70R17 KO2's, Cornfed 2/1 spacers. Wheels are -12 offset. I pushed the fender liner forward and had slight trimming on the aftermarket mudflaps. No rubbing4Runner side.jpg

    Right on

What load rating tires are you guys going?

I really like the weight of the SL but I think I'd be be better off with something like a C rating

I'm using P rated 285/70R17 SL since my Limited will never see dirt.

I use Load C on my TRD Offroad. I used Load E before and my wife was not happy about the firm ride on road. SL Wildpeaks are very soft and comfy compared to Load C KO2s.

I’m running C and am happy with the ride on the KO2’s with xreas still in tact, but have no comparison over stock

I bought the same wheels for my 2016 Limited and am considering tires and sizes right now. What tires did you go with? A/T3W's?

I have a 2" lift in the front (nothing in the rear) and 1.25" wheel spacers and I get a little rub at full lock with the stock 245/60/20's (even with fender liner mod). I'll remove the wheel spacers when I put the 17's on, do you think I'll be fine with the 2" lift and 285/70/17's?
