    New to this forum.
I have have an awesome 2000 Toyota 4wd 4 Runner Limited that has about 286,000 miles.
I know it is just getting broken in.

Around 90 thousand miles ago I had the spark plugs and timing belt done. The water pump went so I changed the belt.

I am looking to have more work done it and was quoted $2200 (includes Tax) and want to make sure this is fair.

New timing belt kit (water pump & some pulleys?)
    Spark Plugs
    Valve Cover Gasket replaced (leaking)
    3 belts replaced
    Cooling system flush/refill
Basic Fuel Induction / Injector cleaning
and the driver side window control replaced.

I live in AZ but I am in FL. The parts are provided by him with a 2 year and 24,000 mile warranty but I am also able to bring my own parts. Since I will be driving back to AZ I am not sure I should have him supply the parts. He said he only marks up a little. He only has a $95 hourly fee. That is an amazing price. I pay $125 in AZ and I know it can go up to $145.

I don't like the dealerships as they are too expensive.

So my ? is ... If I decide to provide my own parts I will not use the cheapest.
What suggestions do you have for brands and auto store?

The vehicle runs awesome... The windshield wipers are sticking ... just remembered this and need to address that.

    Any suggestions are so appreciated.

    Thanks
    Marie

Use only Toyota OEM parts. That's my suggestion. Aircabinman on the auction site sells kits for both valve cover gaskets and timing belts and parts are all OEM.

    Welcome, Marie.

Use nothing but OEM parts. They last forever for a reason. Exceptions would be if OEM is simply unavailable. Then get the best quality aftermarket you can.

Your guy might be inexpensive, but you often end up getting what you pay for. And you're going to drive 2000+ miles after the work is done. My personal thoughts about dealership service are that the service is good, and I get a bit of a price break because I have developed a relationship with the service writer. Same with the parts guy. If there's a problem with the work, it's a lot easier to stop at another dealership and get it fixed under the service warranty than to call your guy back in Florida. I assume he'll provide no follow-up support once you're gone.

A lot of folks on here don't like dealerships, but for me over the decades, it's either been me or a dealership fixing my Toyotas.

If I have to buy parts from an auto store I'd go with Napa. If I had time I'd order from Rockauto and buy whatever brand had the best reviews. Aisin, GMB, and Denso made many components for Toyota, and with rare exception there isn't a reason to not get them even if you can afford the Toyota part. My new Aisin water pump clearly had the Toyota logo ground off it

toyotapartsdeal, McGeorge Toyota, Camelback Toyota, and Partsouq are all online sites that I've used over the years. Those sites have all at times been the lowest price I could find for an OEM part. Amayama is also good from my experience, though some people have said they had problems. Avoid Amazon and Ebay for Toyota parts, fakes are not rare.

Welcome from Wisconsin! The quote seems a bit high to me, but I would be working on it myself, if you're OK with that price, it's reasonable.
