    Hi everyone
I just purchased a 2021 4Runner TRD Off Road. Even with the heated seats cranked right up, they are barely warm. I had a Ford F-150 previously and would have to shut those heated seats off because they would get so hot. Anyone else find this with their 4Runner? Or maybe I need to take it in to get looked at.

    thanks

I think you should have them looked at, my 17 SR-5 gets hot.

I have a 21 as well, and I think nine are pretty toasty when cranked up as well.

Mine are overly hot on any setting. I think it may be your vehicle in particular.

I have no complaints with mine BUT compared to other brands they don’t get as hot as fast. I’ve had Mazdas and currently have a 2021 Acura RDX. I noticed both of those brands get noticeably hotter faster than my 2021 4Runner.

How big is your ass, OP?

JK.... mine heat up fast and hot. High setting is about as hot as I'd care to go.

I do think the dials are too small and loose, they feel very imprecise when adjusting.

Mine works great especially in the past few cold days. My wife’s Fiat Abarth seats are stupid hot.

I'd say your seats are probably fine OP.

    Every vehicle is different.

Mine get plenty hot...but in my wife's VW GTI those seats get CRAZY hot.

My SR5 doesnt have heated seats, just two black plugs that scream "here you could have bought this option".

I should have upgraded to the SR5 Premium, since I live in a freaking cold state!!!

LOL!! My last year in MA was one of the coldest I remember. I left in Feb 2003 to WA and if I remember correctly the temp on Valentines day was like -14... there were minus temps for what feels like that entire winter.

I found something interesting on my 2021 Venture. I turned off A/C Eco mode via my Carista OBD2 app. I found that the seats warm up a LOT hotter and much faster. Try turning off the ECO mode via your dashboard and see if that works. I think ECO mode controls the output on some of the climate control features including the heated seats.

I think the seats in my 2019 Tacoma I just got rid of were slightly warmer. However the 4Runner seats spread the heat out better in my opinion. I take my hoodie off when I drive, I’m usually just wearing a tshirt, and the seats feel nice and warm on my screwed up back.

I'm not sure if you can turn the bar off. I'll check mine later to see if its on after I turned off the A/C Eco mode. I didnt notice it because I drive with the digital speedometer as my default screen.

Might well be a personal thing.
I live in MN and have yet to find the need for heated seats and haven't yet turned it on on my 2019 TRD ORP.

Get them checked- we drove home yesterday in my wife’s 21 Venture and the seats seemed way too hot on high. Low was comfortable on a ride we took today.

We took a ride on our New Years day "elk watching" trip and the heated seats performed great, lots of the time we were 3-5mph with the windows down in 23 degree temps outside looking for the elk, and the seats on about half way felt just right.

S mode as fixer5000 said (every time you drive it), or Carista / Techstream can disable it (permanently, without having to go into S mode).

See if turning the seats off and back on warms the cockles.

Sometimes mine don't feel like they're maintaining the temperature they should be and if I turn them off and back on, it resets and they'll get a little warmer.

2022 MY and heated seats don't feel all that hot, just "warm". Definitely not so hot that I have to turn the settings down.
Also, only the butt area of the seat gets warm, the seat area where my thighs are does not get heat up at all. Is this normal?

I have a 2021 ORP and mine are exactly like yours. They only get warm at most. My Chevy truck would cause 3rd degree burns on the high setting.
