Has anyone replaced the rear springs by themselves?

I plan on doing this tomorrow. I wanted to know if i disconnect the shock, swaybar, and the crossbar will this make for a dangerous situation for one person?

I am not new when it comes to suspension work but this is my first time doing this on a 4runner.

90% of my experience is suspension work on 350Z's

I did put lift blocks in the rear of my Tacoma about a year ago but thats a different suspension than the 4runner

    Any input would be great!

    Thanks!

Tons of us have done it.

I don’t have a car lift and just did it on my garage floor with the use of jack stands, standard jack, and the bottle jack to leverage between the top of the axle and bumpstop. With your previous mechanical experience everything will come together and make sense when you start working on it. It’s not difficult.

Easy peasy. I did it solo a couple of months ago with no issues or concerns at all. I cant' really see how having another person for the rear would've helped.

Very easy. It took me 45mins to put new coils/shocks in the rear of my wife’s 2019ORP.

    Thanks to everyone who replied!

One last question. Is it necessary to unbolt both the cross arm or the swaybar at the same time? Did any of you get away with just unbolting one out of the two?

    Thanks!

Unbolt the sway bar, not the trac bar.

It will also help to jack up the opposite side of the axle to get a little more clearance to pop the spring out of the side you are working on.

Be careful with brake lines and ABS sensor wires. Unbolt the clips and let hang loose to avoid stretching/ breaking one. Takes just a gew more minutes but U will thank me later.

Ok Got it done on Tuesday! I unbolted the brake line bracket on the pumpkin. I unbolted both the sway bar bushing clamps. I used the stock bottlejack between the bumpstop and the axle. It was so easy i cranked up the bottle jack with my fingers. I used the daystar spacers from the FJ. So when you pull out the spring with the top bumpstop attached you simply just put the spacer on top of that and reinsert.

For those of you doing this in the future just unbolt both swaybar bushing clamps at the same time. if you don't you will be forced to use the rod extensions for the bottle jack and it is very cumbersome as the jack wants to spin on the axle making it super difficult and ungodly time consuming.

Now just time for an alignment.

    Thanks to all who commented!
