I'm planning a road trip from NY to Alaska(Alberta, Yukon, British Colombia and coming down West to California and cross back to NY).

I want to know what are the best ways to go through some of those unbeaten back roads?
Downloaded maps to tablet/mini laptop or GPS?

    Any help is greatly appreciated.

I use a couple apps on my tablet. Back Country Navigator and Avenza Maps. Make sure you learn how to use them before you head out, there is a bit of a learning curve but once you figure it out the are very helpful.
