So the wifey and I swung into the toyota dealership today for our first oil change, which we’re supposed to have free for two years and even a third year at the dealership We bought it from. After waiting for 1.5 hours, the service manager came in and told us the oil change would be $65. I asked him why and he said because we put aftermarket wheels and tires on. I proceeded to ask him why on earth that would effect my oil change and he said because it’s a package with oil change, tire rotation etc. so i said again, what’s that have to do with my oil. Don’t do the flippin tire rotation, just change the oil. He said he couldn’t. I explained to him that we discussed putting a lift and tires on with the finance manager when we bought the 4R and he said that wasn’t an issue. So the service manager said “well, take it to them then”. I went off on the guy and cussed him in front of a full room of customers which all heard the entire conversation because I was loud and angry. I’ll never do business with this dealership ever again and will make it a personal goal to inform anyone I come in contact with to avoid this place.
It’s unreal to say the least. Obviously Toyota looks for ANY excuse to not honor their shit.

Major BS. This ranks way up there with a crappy dealership getting out of taking care of their customers. Good job calling them out  just missing the dealership to avoid...

I’m extremely inclined to stand in front of their dealership with a sign. Oh they’ve pissed me off! On a positive note, I left there and bought Mobile 1 full synthetic which is probably much better than I woulda got there. I’d rather change the shit myself anyways...

I hate stealerships and service departments also.
    What is your current mileage?
I would get on social media if you have it.
I don't. However I have seen huge companies respond when it hits Facebook or Instagram.
I would slam them (no slander) on every site & get corporate involved.
We paid for those oil changes. Not the dealer!
Wheels and tires.! Call corporate on Monday.
    Very sad to hear. Sorry.

We don’t do social media. But I may give something to our kids to post on theirs about it. It’s complete BS!

I had it out with my dealer about my first and second free oil change. I’ll never go back for another service ever again unless it’s a warranty issue. I’m done with those scumbag idiots.
Last time I was there for an oil change they held me an hour and never touched the oil but made sure to put in a sticker saying it was done on the windshield

Yeah I’ll not go back to them either, even for a warranty repair. I’ll drive 1.5 hours to the dealer we bought from. Now if corporate makes them honor the free oil changes, I will go back in there to cuss the SM one more time to tell him to eat shit and I won.

That's crazy. The call to corporate will likely get you taken care of.

I've gotten oil changes and rotations after switching tires, lifting and everything with my Tacoma... Same dealership i got my 4runner from. I'm going to lift it and switch the tires too.

They didn’t say a word about the lift, just that the wheels and tires voided the toyota care. Matter of fact, I’ve got an email from them two weeks ago when I tried to schedule the service. This is what that dumbass SM wrote me....

“The maintenance portion ToyotaCare expired when the OEM tires and wheels were replaced.”

    That is Bullshit.
I told our dealer we wanted them to change tires out before we left. He said no. They cannot take that loss.
He told me to go elsewhere to get tires.
    Get in touch with Toyota!
Good luck & keep us informed.

The wifey hasn’t been very pleased with them and I think, well I know, she’s kind of regretting buying the 4R. She loves it’s looks, the ride, and the room, but she hates how slow it is and it’s lack of technology. I wouldn’t be a bit surprised if she doesn’t trade it off very soon.

Sounds like my dealer who told me my ReadyLift was extremely dangerous and should be taken off and wrote it all on all the paperwork.

They dont have to change oil at 5000. Its every 10K. Some dealers WILL change at 5K if you tell them you drive on dusty roads, tow, or other things listed as "special operating conditions" But its not required of them, in my toyota care flyer thingy it said oil changes at 10K...

Just saying... But changing tires shouldnt change that regardless.

I will buy it for $40k!
Seriously, a faster SUV (Porsche) is a lot more maintenance and repair costs.
A SRT jeep is still a jeep.
    Nothing compares to the T4R!
Put a supercharger on it & have it all!

I don’t know what she’d get, we haven’t discussed it. The day she picked up the 4R, we had went to look at the Land Rovers but never made it there.

She likes to drive fast but I also think she needs 4x4 or at least AWD due to the snow we get. She’s always driven SUV’s which have been v8’s.

Sounds like she needs more of an awd SUV that is car based instead of the 4runner. The 4runner is the last of the truck based suvs

She’s not bashing the 4r by any means. She’ll NEVER use the off road capabilities, won’t even drive it through our pasture. She wipes it down daily from the top to the wheels, coats the tires almost daily. She loves the looks, says it’s extremely comfortable too. She just hates that there isn’t any power, she hated there is no backup alarm like the 2016 Explorer had. She really wanted three row seating since we have a grandbaby and another on the way.
Mostly tho, it’s the speed that’s driving her nuts. It doesn’t help matters when her sister pulls in our drive in the R8.

She’s heard how fast the F150’s are with the echo boost, and with good gas mileage too. I wouldn’t be surprised to see her get one of those. But it’d have to be lifted too. But still no 3rd row.

5k doesn’t include an oil change, but does include a tire rotation. When I brought mine in for the 5k, I watched the service advisor pull it out and park it in the lot. I like to walk the lot while waiting, so I did just that and noticed my truck never moved. I got a text about an hour after I dropped it off, saying the truck was ready. I watched the service advisor come back out, get in, and pull it back into the customer pick up area. That’s when I decided they won’t get near mine again. I used to bring my Taco there during its “free” 2 yr period...I wonder if the oil ever got changed.

PS, if you used Mobil 1, good for you. Now claim your rebate! https://mobiloil.com/en/promotion/mobil-promotions/mobil-1-rebate-2019

The dealer is an idiot and I'm glad you filed a complaint with corporate. They deserve it.

On the other hand, count your blessings. Dealership oil changes seem to be the best way to a screwed up engine these days. I'm doing them all myself even though it's kind of a pain.

If your wife likes to act like a teenage street racer with a 3 row SUV full of kids, then trade it in for a Durango SRT.
