Looking for an app to find gas stations while on road trips. Not necessarily the lowest prices, just availability & station locations.

I like use the app to pre-plan stops. At my age the interval between bathroom stops is critical. That makes for a much more comfortable, stress free trip.

(DON'T ask me what happened between Clayton & Raton NM one time...)

I don't use WAZE because it only allows two destinations and then has to be reprogramed.

Been using google maps and/or garmin GPS in my Kenwood head unit. I'd like to program my stops and enter the route before I leave home.

    Any ideas?

Wow, never thought finding gas stations need an app. Have done few trip but we just looked at boards along highway to find gas. We try to stop every 2 hours for a break for us, kids and dog.

    Some examples of our trips;
    Denver- Las Vegas
    Denver- Moab
Denver- white sand dunes NM ( can't remember the city)
    Denver- Mount Rushmore, SD

Based on our experience I don't plan to use any gas apps on our next, Denver-> Yellowstone and few other parks.

Free is never free. Apps are no different, I work in the cyber security profession and can tell you with 100% certainty that your driving data is being captured and sold. Gas Buddy just got exposed for selling your data to insurance companies who then used that data to adjust rates. A big player in this space is a company called Arity who is owned by Allstate. Do a google search.

You can add a stop in Google maps now

They even show you prices sometimes

The rest of the time. Use common sense

If needed google maps have search option to find stops along the route.

I use Gasbuddy , you can search for stations by zip code or the area around your location.

I recently exchanged communication with RVParky about adding features such as gas stations to their travel route planning.

Those apps may work in well-populated areas. Pretty much useless in the remote areas of northern Nevada/southeast Oregon. When the one station in 100+ miles has a problem seems no one updates the apps.

That would suck. Does AAA respond to that area? :)

Yama, that kind of app is exactly what I'm looking for. Finding gas along the interstates is simple of course.

But I don't fly fish on the interstate.

What I'm really looking for is a route planner.

I want to identify stops and make a route before I leave the house. Two hours is my max without a break. I get too stiff to walk if I am in the Runner longer.

If I had a map / app showing gas vendors along secondary and rural routes I'd have just what I need. I know I can do that with Google maps by estimating the distance from point A to my next stop but that takes time and is an iterative process.

They might, if you are on pavement, I don't really know. It would be a LONG wait as the nearest town of any size is ~ 100 miles away.

I dropped AAA some years ago...my wife had a flat tire within sight of the town of Winnemucca, Nevada. She was on a graded, well-maintained gravel road (not much pavement in Nevada!) but because it was off pavement they refused to respond.

That sucks. Sounds like the driver didn't want to do his job.

Nope. That's their official policy, at least in this area. Here's a screen shot of someone else's comment on another forum, complaining about this very thing:

I know that road and sign! I swear it's between Bend Oregon and Caldwell Idaho! That stretch had me pucker a little, more so because I was driving an RV that sucks the gas.
