Fuel injector suggestions?

Hi I have some problems with my fuel injectors and I'd like to replace them all. Any suggestions where and what kind should I buy without spending 2000 bucks in Toyota dealership?

 

Did you say fuel injectors? Yes, did mine used the ones from Advance Auto, I think Car Quest. Working great. Might want to change your pigtails too they are reel brittle at this point.

 

How many miles do you have?

Sorry for the ignorance but what’s the pigtails and which injectors do you reckon I can get that won’t cost 2000 $

I think mine were new they were around $129. Each.
The connector on the injector will get brittle the plastic gets old. They have pigtails cheap

I would send yours out and get flow rated ones back which will be OEM and not aftermarket. The aftermarket just can't be trusted to last.

I sent mine in to Motor West Performance and they did a great job in cleaning them. In doing this, they also replaced the o-rings, ... I was also provided with a report on the before and after performance of each injector. Total cost was $130. They also sell re-manufactured ones. The downside to this is that I had to wait for a week before the work was finished.

Anyone used aftermarket ones and can say they are reliable?

 

I have not but I have come across a varied experience range (both good and bad) with the aftermarket injectors. For me the risk wasn't worth it.

Did the coil and wires and plugs too, unless the brand new wires are trash somehow idk. Getting spark everywhere so really not thinking that's it.

 

I take it that the OBD is still registering a miss for Cylinder 4 after all the fixes. Have you checked the #4 plug to see if it is wet with fuel or not after a run? If it is wet then the issue must be electrical. The safest bet is to try another wire and/or swap the coil. However if the plug is dry then either the injector is bad or the injector is not receiving the signal.

 

I appreciate the advice man. I have actually not hooked the scanner back up, I just know exactly how it behaved and it's identical to when the problem first arose and has remained to be. The miss does seem to get WORSE though around 50-60ish after it's been running awhile. My trip to work is 45 mins just about and fires up no miss runs but still kinda sluggishly - then as I'm going down the road and it warms up that vibration and shaking gets worse. I have done that with the wires and coil. Brand new wires, even got a brand new coil pack for the suspect one - why I spent the money on injectors ugh I'll for sure check my plugs again soon, plan on replacing them anyhow as the past owner did it just before I bought it, buuuut they used the single diode plugs and the engine specifically calls for twin diode plugs. So yeah wanna fix that anyhow.

 

OEM coils or aftermarket? Used TOYOTA coils are better than any new aftermarket ones.

ALWAYS use the correct OEM plugs. Others cause misfires. I bet that's your issue.

Otherwise, if it's an issue after it heats up, it's starting to sound like it may be a head gasket. When you pull the plugs, look really hard at them and see what they look like. They tell the tale, I bet.

 

Honestly I do not remember. I bought it from O'reilly's, and it was like 160$ lol. So I assume it's at least reliable at least I'd hope. And you think it really might be? The issue was NOT there for the longest time - only appeared after I started driving the truck much more frequently then it was supposed to. My old man swears up and down that "there's no way" it could be those plugs lol. BUT in his defense they ARE sparking and have tested and SEEN them arcing pulled out of the motor to double check. My plugs aren't super gunked up, black, or corroded even. They look good, just a tiny bit of peach fuzz forming. But I intend on doing those anyhow because the twin diode thing. I'm thinking you may have something there w the head gasket, if that can actually cause a misfire too. I also have white smoke sometimes (entirely randomly) on startup, and a strong gas smell coming from the exhaust. Not as worrisome as the miss though. But I've been told to associate that smoke w a head gasket, I've also been told that if it doesn't smell like coolant, it's most likely NOT the head gasket and could be an exhaust leak or something else. I'm down to replace a head gasket, never tried but I'm up for the challenge. Will look into this and new plugs next. I'm beyond ready to figure out this issue already man. I've spent far too much on my ole' girl getting her beauti-mus and I don't want her running like shit like she has been. Injector's definitely made a difference, hope they continue to do so for my mileage etc when I get my freaking annoying miss finally sorted.

 

Before you do anything major. Do the SIMPLE things.

Buy a coolant test for exhaust gases.
Swap one coil for the other to see if the misfire moves.
Swap injector for another to see if it moves.
Do an engine leak down test.

I would still use the correct plugs, it's well known that Asian engines really want the OEM plugs.

 

Coolant test for exhaust gasses? Don't know of such a thing myself. Interesting though. Have done the swaps w coil packs, miss stays where it is. That's why I bought another one to replace what I suspected was the problem, as it feeds #4. No cigar. Injectors are brand spanking new and fully installed in the truck already. Don't know a thing about leak-downs, but definitely wanna do this the moment I can. Don't know how to do them myself, my dad does and has the stuff though I'm certain. We're trying to remodel and move house at the same time, he's super busy w that and I'm trying to get most of my issues sorted out without pestering him with yet another vehicle for him to fix. (whole fam does that) So just trying to do what I can on my own anyhow - and who knows how long it'll be until he can help me with that.

I recommend that you also hook up an OBD and check the codes. If you don't have one, buy one. It pays for itself overtime. I use Blue Driver which is a pretty decent unit. They are other options out there. Just pick one and give it a try.
