My 4runner has 51k miles on it. Lately it "seemed" like the lifters were slightly noisy. I realized the injectors probably needed some TLC. The 4runner just has a screen in the fuel tank and no fuel filter. This is exactly how my nissan 350z was set up. Taking from the same playbook I put some lucas fuel injector cleaner and cleaned the Maf sensor. Made a HUGE difference!!! I guess o get desensitized slowly over time.

Screenshot of what i used if anyone is interested.

Thanks for sharing with us; I’m getting closer to same mileage myself in my 2016 4RTP, so on my next oil change will have to do it.

If there was an immediate change in the feel of your 4Runner (butt dyno) I would guess the MAF Cleaner is to blame. For the most part unless you are buying the cheap gas from a no name station then most gas will have sufficient detergents. My vehicles are only filled with Top Tier gas but I also through in a bottle of Chevron cleaner ever 5,000 miles.

I cleaned my TRD engine air filter and also cleaned the MAF sensor with the CRC. Good stuff!

I use Amsoil P.I. right before an oil change so every 7500-10K. Hammer it for a full tank of gas and then change the oil.

Yes. Make sure you are filling up all the way as this stuff says it treats up to 30 gallons.

Dump the bottle in first and then fill up

and I would do this with about a half a tank or less of gas so that it mixes right.

FYI I have never used Lucas before. I have always used Prestone fuel injector Cleaner. Amazon will no longer deliver this in my area and its sad because it was 24.00 for 6 bottles. Even my local stores do not carry it. It's probably a stupid California thing. I really should work towards leaving the country by moving out of state.

Should I do it even with just 15k miles on a newer truck?

Won't hurt. I do it every oil change and have since new. Maybe I am wasting my money, maybe not, but it always runs better after a treatment.

Its up to you. better to do preventative maintenance than have things screw up. But in all honesty This is the first fuel injector cleaner I have ran and I have 51k miles. Started running a little rough a few hundred miles ago.

another tip for preventative maintenance that i personally do is to drain/refill the radiator only every 10k miles. This ensures that the coolant is ALWAYS clean!

anti freeze 10K miles ? well I do it every 4 yrs ... I had to replace my radiator on my 96 GM sedan because the plastic side tank had a small crack.. when I removed that radiator 23 yrs old original owner the inside of it looked like the new radiator I installed alum was bright and shinny.. I use 65% anti freeze and distilled water.. toyota only has 50% coolant so that should good ..

last month I was gonna return 3.5gallons of my used coolant .. I could not return to the auto stores anymore.. I called up the towns recycle of haz waste and they were gonna charge me $70 ..
