Front end leveling on 2022 trd off road

    So if I only want to level the front of my 4runner trd off road 2022. How much would I need to lift the front? I would like to just put on some old man or bilstein 5100 coil overs in the front only and leave the rear alone. Is this possible? Would I need new upper control arms for this small of a front lift? The rear seems fine to me in ride quality. I hope someone could give me some pointers about this. Thanks

    Your plan of adding 5100s up front is good. They are adjustable. You will likely use the OEM spring. You will not need upper control arms.

    Alternately, you can find "leveling kits" which use spacers added to your stock suspension. While some frown upon them, it's an inexpensive way to level your 4Runner if that's all you're looking to achieve.

    Find a good off-road shop in your area and they will be able to direct you to something that fits your needs and budget.

    a few goodies
    I leveled with Bilstein 6112s with a Toytec coilover which is adjustable. I don't remember which position the clip is in, but I ended up with about a 2 inch lift in the front (I have KDSS). I wanted to get rid of the nasty nose dive when braking. I also installed Bilstein 5100s in back and left the factory springs in the back.

    I got Bilstein 5100s in the front set to a 1.5" lift. I also got a 1.5" rear lift. The Bilstein's should improve the ride quality. Under 2" and you don't need to do anything special

    From what I’ve researched and learned from people running aftermarket suspensions, you should be fine with your stock UCA’s if you are simply going for the leveling of the front end.

    I also wanted to get rid of the front brake dip. I don't want to really alter the geometry too much with and big lift. I'm thinking just 1.75" up front maybe spacer lift 1" in the rear. Mainly I hate the front dipping when I stop. I do like a stiffer ride as well.

    Did just the 5100s up front in the 2nd notch and new Bilstein's in the back to level it off. All old springs.
    Much better ride and level

    If you're otherwise happy with the ride, I'd probably just throw a.5" tall spacer on the front, which will give you 1" of lift.

    The rear will still be slightly higher, but you want that if you tow or load up with gear. Perfectly level while unloaded will result in the squatted look once you load up.

    he’ll still get the nose dive which he is trying to eliminate.

    im a firm believer of do it once and do it right the first time.

    I didn't see in the original post that he mentioned nose dive.

    On a 22 which is basically new, I don't think a small spacer is necessary the "wrong" way. If it had 100k miles I'd certainly recommend replacing the shocks, but 2022 parts are going to have a lot of life left.

    Also, I must be the only one not bothered by the nose dive. 150k miles on my stock suspension and it doesn't bother me. It's the nature of the beast with an "off-road" vehicle.

    i ripped all of mine out + tires, at 300 miles on my 2022. Wasnt going to make the same mistake like i did on my 2011 feeling like i was driving a wallowing pig for the first 50,000 miles.

    it the opposite imho, your handling and ride quality actually improves. But to each their own.

    and why lower the rear, its a truck.

    Afret, raising a sports car? Stop being silly. We are talking lifting the front end slightly and installing aftermarket suspension equipment (the main point) which is always an improvement over stock.

    I'll give my thoughts for what little it is worth.

    I would not recommend putting coilovers in the front without putting similar springs in the back. High quality coilovers are stiffer than the OEM shocks. By only doing the front, you could possibly end up with nose high ride when the back is loaded. From the factory the rear of the 4R is higher by design. There is nothing wrong with wanting to level the 4R, but you would be better served by using spacers up front, rather than having unmatched spring rates.

    If you are going to change spring rates, do all 4.

    correct, nothing wrong with leveling but spacers will not improve nose dive or make it a little stiffer which is what Ctreg is trying to do. Spacers are only going to lift it.

    he can also use stock coils with a upgraded shock in front like the 5100 as well as a 5100 in rear.

    I certainly wasn't suggesting spacers would eliminate nose dive. The title of the post mentioned leveling and I saw where he mentioned he didn't like the nose dive. I was more concerned about him ending up with unmatched springs.

    So this is pretty much where I started. Bilstein 5100s all around with fronts set at 1.75" and instead of rear spacers, I added Bilstein 1" springs in the back.

    I didn't like the lean and ended up adding a 10mm rear spacer and a .25" front spacer to the Drivers side. This leveled the ride

    At that point, I couldn't get enough caster and added Iron Man UCAs to get that back in the 3 degree range

    I am an a happy place now but still considering if i need an adjustable panhard. what I'm trying to say, is that it is a slippery slope if you are trying to keep the lift within budget.

    If all you are looking for is a level and to get rid of the nose dive, you may want to consider Bilstein 5100's front and rear and set the front at .85. Align it and call it a day.

    1" of spacer lift in the front is not bad. In the original post, the OP mentioned he wanted to do it for looks. He's not looking for extended travel or a firmer ride, he only mentioned looks. A half inch tall spacer is not going to negatively affect anything.

    If he does want to firmer ride, it seems like the easy solution would be front and rear 5100s with stock coil springs, with the front set to 1.5 -1.7 of lift.

    The least amount of work and cost to accomplish a more level 4R with improving the brake dive is to put Bilstein 5100s front AND rear, or Eibach Sport Truck shocks, which accomplish the same end result, with the stock springs all around. I personally would not put new shocks up front without changing the rear also.

    In post #8 OP says the main concern is to get rid of the dip (nose dive). Spacers most likely wont solve for that. But I never tried them on my 5th gen so I dont have a real point of refence on this specific vehicle.

    However, when I got my '06 4th gen in '08, I tried 1" spacers. The ride went from decent to terrible. Thought it might be the shocks so I upgraded to some KYB shocks. Ride got even worse with those. I finally tossed the spacers and KYB shocks and went with Bilstein 5100s and springs from an FJ. That combo was awesome and I loved the next 100k miles I drove it.
