I'm finally sick of fooling around with conventional coolers and ice so I ordered my first 12 volt fridge, a Setpower DT45, coming in next week. After much thought, it seems to me there is no really good way to strap it down in the cargo area. The OEM tie down points don't appear to be very good for strapping down a fridge. So now I'm looking at fridge sliders but am very intimidated with the thought of drilling holes for rivnuts and the like. I would love to find a total "zero mod" solution but I haven't been able to find one. I really don't absolutely NEED a slider (I'll just climb back there as needed), but I feel I DO truly need a secure way to mount the fridge. Any and all ideas welcome!

I have a leveling platform in the back since I usually sleep in the 4runner when I go camping. The leveling platform is tied down to the factory points using turnbuckles. Then I put some D-rings on the platform right where I need them to tie down my fridge.

I don’t have a slide-out because the rattling would drive me crazy. And because it’s not an issue when using the fridge. Strapping it down directly worked best for me.

Here in my build thread you can see pics of what's under the cargo carpet, might give you ideas on how you'd like to tackle the fridge mount. Honestly, having a fridge slide out was last of my concerns (but I got a great deal on one that I couldn't pass up!) and I've come to really appreciate having one!

Drilling holes and installing rivnuts really doesn't need to be daunting, just plan out where you want them (and drill up from underneath to be sure you're not drilling downwards into something delicate. I recommend that you take a few rivnuts and practice installing them on a scrap piece just to get a feel for how the tool works before you go and perform an actual install.

    Good luck!

I made a platform that levels out the rear cargo area and made a fridge slide I attached to that. The platform is held in place by removing the factory tie downs and bolting the platform down to those points with some new bolts.

Just an update. I ended up going with the Victory 4x4 Off Grid modular cargo system and fridge slide. I know it's a little pricey, but after installing it I think it was worth it. One of the few truly zero permanent mod solutions I could find.
