Please tell us what state the truck is for sale? And would you also know how long the truck has been in that part of the country?

Okay, looks like it has seen quite a few snowy winters - possibly salt used on the roads there? Doesn't look like the frame has ever been treated to prevent rust. This could be costly to repair if needed.

Too much flaky scale rust. I would pass on it.
Look in Western States for non-salt belt runners.

Also if that frame was neglected I would imagine maintenance on under vehicle -both diffs, both drive shafts, transfer case, tranny -were also neglected.

If you find one out of State-a trip to purchase and drive home could be a great adventure

Go poke at it. Doesn’t look terrible IMO. The one area of concern is the flaky bit, but that also doesn’t look awful given its age. It’s a 10 year old vehicle.

It could be worse. That’s what New England winters do to Toyota’s terribly coated frames. How long are you planning on keeping the vehicle? If you want to keep it a long time then find something else. If you do buy then spray the frame down heavily with Fluid Film or similar to stop the rust from getting worse.

Thanks everyone for your input. Planned on treating the frame if it’s worth it. Still deciding..

What’s the deal with the area having the black, post-production weld?

Price and the rest of the vehicle are important considerations that everyone seems to neglect to include these days. We’re not psychic, we can only know what you give us!

Ah, you are probably right. I don't think mine has all the overspray.

Is the color white or silver? If white, pay very close attention to the door and tailgate window frame areas for paint peeling.
