    Damn.

Wish them good luck in their endeavor.

Doing something Toyota refuses to do.

    Make a soft top 4x4.

Give it something besides a gutless engine.

Offer a wide array of useful off-road systems and factory suspension lift that aren’t cosmetic.

I was this close to buying one, but then Ford told me I can’t get a manual transmission 2 door with a Sasquatch package this year, I may still buy one next year if that changes.

Heck yea glad to see them shipping FINALLY.

As a Toyota fanboy I really want to see the Bronco do well, if only to encourage some creativity on Toyota's part.

American 4x4 market is ready to take risks, Hemi powered Jeeps, a SECOND convertible SUV? I don't necessarily want Toyota to copy. I want them to add their own flavor to the market. Let's see what you got?

This is what Toyota really needs. Stiff competition to push them harder. It's a win-win for consumers if Ford and others can step up their offroad game.

Like when Jeep refused to make another pickup, until they did, and now they have to sell Gladiators at a $15,000 discount? Bad marketing decisions are costly. No matter what you may think of their decisions regarding the 4Runner, they haven’t had to eat them.

Love the idea, hope it's great.

    Article was weirdly rambling though...

They ate the FJ (2014) and the LC (2021), however.

I think they discontinued those due to declining sales. The Gladiator started being heavily discounted by its second year, I believe. And regardless, I’m sure Toyota hoped to continue the FJ for longer than it lasted. Could also be chalked up to a costly marketing decision.

Last time I checked, they refused to update the FJ cruiser, despite the 4Runner, which it’s based on, receiving a major upgrade, then wondered why something based on a platform that came out in 2003 is exhibiting slow sales.

Glad to see they're finally getting these things rolling. Set up another reservation and waiting for the MY22 options. Looking forward to having one sitting next to my 4Runner! ...Just gotta settle the 2dr vs 4dr debate the Wife and I are having. *laughs*

Yep. I parked next to one in my 4Runner last week and was amazed at how much longer it is, yet the bed is still too small to put an ATV in.

Looked up the specs and the Gladiator is 20 inches longer than a 4Runner. And about a foot shorter than an F150 SuperCrew.

Interestingly enough, the new 4dr Ford Bronco is 1/2" shorter than the 4Runner.

Saw a Bronco on the road yesterday. Don't know about all of it's capabilities, but I was definitely not impressed with it's looks. Like a box!

The Jeep Scrambler was awesome....it was basically a CJ-7 with an extended bed. The Gladiator imo is just frickin' fugly

Which was essentially what the 2 door Unlimited was, but they didn’t sell it very long.

Would be interesting to see a 2 dr gen 5 Runner. My old 86 was two door which, because it had a shorter wheel base really reduced the risk of a high center. Approach and departure were excellent too!

I was at work Friday looking out the window in Seattle and saw a truck delivering 7-8 Broncos. Not impressed with the look. I’ll have to wait and see a lifted one with 33s.

They only made them for 2 years. I had the Unlimited very early when it was released. Very capable vehicle. Initially they only had 4 speed automatics, but eventually they added the 6spd manual. You don't see them often. I saw one once where the rear roll cage was removed and hardtop was built to cover the front two seats and extend behind the front seats... like a truck cab. That, to me, is what the Gladiator should have been.
