I just bought a brand new 2018 4runner TRD pro and love it. However, I'm not in live with the large shift nob. I like the compact and neat transfer case shift nob and would like to match it. I did a little research online and it looks like a stock FJ shift job matches up identical. However, I have seen some posts that say it fits a 4runner and some that say it does not. I also saw a post that says if you take off the very bottom silver transition piece this makes the FJ knob fit.

I need help from someone on this forum that knows the real answer to these questions.

Can I buy the stock FJ shift knob for my 2018 trd pro? Will it require modifications to fit?

Thanks all. Glad to be part of the 4runner fam. Below is a pic of what I'm talking about in this post.

I also did this minor mod. I found a FJC shifter on eBay and then had to shorten it to fit the Gen5. I love the look.

It’s a 2 piece shifter so the top knob pops off the shaft. I’m assuming he then cut the shaft portion down.

No idea. I bought one off eBay years back and put it in my Tacoma by doing the opposite of this thread and actually extending it up from the shift rod. I spent $25 for a used one.

Part #s I found if you are an auto:
    3350435103B0 (w/ metal trim)

    3350435093B0 (w/o metal trim)

I don’t know what metal trim means. I know the FJ shifters were either gray/black or all black so maybe that’s what it means.

looks like there are 3 available. The shifter has 3 parts to it, the middle pieces pull apart and the silver part on the bottom. I first pulled off the silver piece and it fit but I did not like the look then I cut 3/4" off the middle. Here is a great write up...

Me too so I tried a mitre saw for the straight cut, that kind of worked and it didn't. The cutoff piece went flying somewhere yet to be found.
