Finally got my first 4Runner!

I’ve been waiting for this moment for years now and I finally am in a position to get and start to mod my 4Runner. Here to get insights on best products and meet other people that love toying with the runners!

To address your request for roof rack and ladder - I personally went with the Pioneer Platform from RhinoRack for a few reasons. I got to keep the factory rails, it's low profile, and RhinoRack offers lots of accessories for it. I like the 1/2 option (meaning, the rack only covers the back half of the roof, where the rails are) but they have sizes that would translate to 3/4 and full coverage. It's also not 4Runner specific, so I could take it off and use it on another vehicle if I ever needed. And it is super easy to remove.

Most people who drive a 4Runner don't go with this option because there are so many 4Runner-specific racks out there. The one I see the most often are the Gobi racks, which are full-size and come with the ladder. They are pricey. I also like the Prinsu rack and was considering an nFab rack. Many good options out there.

As for the ladder, I am going to purchase a Gobi ladder soon. They are proven, reliable, low profile, and at a good price. They also are having a promo where you get like a $60 travel kit with it for free. Pretty cool. I also know people like the BajaRack ladders.

This is super insightful! I’m going to take a look at the rhino racks to see if that is a good choice for me. I think I’ve decided I want more of a bucket top set for easy mesh tie down. I like the gobi later but personally like the beefier look on ladders.
