So I still think this qualifies as an "inexpensive" upgrade.

My 05 sport edition will keep the stock wheels. Going with K02 265/70r17c tires. Picked up a full set of springs from an FJ Cruiser.

Bilstein 5100's all around. 1.75" setting up front and using a Cornfed 1" spacer out back. Should get me an overall 2" lift with a slight rake towards the front. But much less than stock.

Thanks to David@CornfedSuspension for talking it through with me. Had a few quick questions and he helped me with the math part.

Now we wait for a couple of things in the mail.

Will update as I get more into it. And will post before and after shots.

    Cheers.

Sounds like a pretty solid plan

Thanks. Been on a crash course to get it figured out. Now to decide on oem size K02's or step up a size to 275/70r17's. I don't want to cut or hammer anything yet.

Glad you found some assistance and look forward to some pictures in the future! Be aware the 5100s are a little rough, at least compared to stock. Some people love it, I am not one of those people and went with 6112/5160; it's like a knife through Parkay!!

    Cheers!

Isn't the 6112/5160 setup more firm than the 5100's though?

The shocks are stiffer but make a huge difference when performing offroad. I guess it comes down to function and intent. I found the 6112 to be much smoother while offroading, especially at higher speeds and bumps. Suppose I should have made that more clear, apologies for the confusion.... pictures!!

Rear Bilsteins will be here tomorrow. Wednesday I'm getting x-reas deleted and everything installed. Can't wait. Will post before and after shots.

Question in back of my mind is whether to go with 275/70r17C K02's or just stick with 265's.

I've been thinking along same lines as you(275/70r17C K02's or just stick with 265's.) . My current tires will be worn out soon. Have you decided which way you're going?

Might just stick with 265/70r17's. I don't see doing technical stuff on trails and my main driving is on road and long distances between So Cal and either Oregon or Owen's Valley, which is my go to destination to get away from society. Gas mileage is important to me.

But...I have read that going up one size also shouldn't have too much of an impact.

Also might want to consider 255/75/17. Its a skinner tire but the side profile looks good.

Thank you. I ended up with a set of 265/70r17 K02's.
