    Hi All,

I've had my truck for about a year and a half. The factory installed PPF is starting to yellow. My front end is covered in Xpel ultimate and is clear as the first day installed. Also noticeable on white. I'm probably going to peel it off. Anyone else have issues with it turning yellow?

^I haven't seen PPF there on 5th gen. Wonder what year it was introduced?

Per my tint shop, who also do PPF, shore installed PPF is Suntek brand. They say it has the same 10 year warranty as Xpel, but they feel it isn’t the same level of quality. And fwiw, this shop does tint and PPF on high end vehicles. They also pointed out my shore installed PPF on my hood only goes to the edge, but not over like they install. He told me to monitor going forward as car wash brushes will start to open that edge up.

It's on the TRD Off Road models.

Mine is becoming more noticeable as well (yellowing), but mine is silver so less obvious.

Thanks for the replies. It is a TRD Pro. I'm sure it's either a cheap variant of Suntek or 3M. I'm going to pull it off. When PPF fully dries, it shrinks a little bit exposing some glue. The factory installed PPF has a dirt line around it because of this and not worth the effort to remove it for yellowing film. I'll have enough work to remove that sticky line from the Xpel. These are things you don't notice non-white cars.

I have seen this on several ORPs in the past.

I had my 2024 hood and front end Xpeled also and have discussed this issue with my installer if it ever occurs on my truck.

They have seen this on other units and advised that this factory crap film can be taken off carefully by lightly heating the area. They can then clean the surface and put on new stuff.

Xpel makes a product that is thicker than the standard film we put on our hoods etc and this thicker product. This thicker film is meant for these applications.

Xpel installers can print this new stuff off for your ORP and they can even slightly adjust th factory dimensions on the computer prior to printing it out.

The cost of the thicker Xpel film is about 25 percent more than the standard film.

    Hope this helps

I have Xpel Ultimate on my hood and front end as well. I had it on my past Audi for 8 years. The stuff is great and does not yellow, even in the Texas sun. I'm changing the roof rack next weekend and will polish and reapply ceramic to the whole car. So at least the doors will have that vs the yellow crap that is on there.
