    Hey all,

Been lurking awhile while deciding whether or not to pull the trigger and recently picked up a ‘22 SR5 Premium. After lots of menu frustration I have most of the nanny bs turned off, but still can’t figure out how to silence the notice that tells me I’m entering a new state.

Apologies if this has been asked, but coudn’t find anything after searching all over the Google. Can I silence this notification without silencing the whole nav system? I cross between two states on an almost daily basis and am getting tired of hearing it.

    Any help greatly appreciated,

    Winston

Use WAZE on your smart phone. Free and it updates free periodically. You can display it on the screen using the apple or android app provided in the vehicle.

    Welcome,
I got mine to turn off, but am unsure how I did it. I went to turn it back on to show my wife that it welcomes you to a new state and couldn't find how to turn it back on.
But keep digging in the settings for the map and nav, it is in there.

Menu>Navigation>Detailed Navigation Settings>scroll down to “State Border Guidance” and toggle to off. Page 115 of the Nav & Multimedia manual.

yep, I saw that. Great advice. I really like the on line version, as I don’t have to go out to the vehicle when I have a question. I am on my 4th 4Runner, first a 2000, and the manuals are your best friend

Sorry for the delayed response, was off the grid for a couple days. I do appreciate the welcomes and all the advice.

That was the one I was looking for, thanks cap… Not a shocker if ya know me, but as many times as I’ve been through the damn menu I’m surprised I didn’t see that. Course, this is the smartest car I’ve ever owned and I am a pretty simple man in an awfully complicated world…

Don’t have Waze so can’t blame it on that, used it for a while and ended up going back to Google maps.

Ya never know but as often as it tells me that I’m pretty sure it’s not the mountain since it would be popping off more than Ron Jeremy back in the day

What Jimmy said… Bought her used and no manual. Not sure if Toyota is that cheap or the dealer/previous owner has it, prolly with the second fob that didn’t come with it either… I will be saving that link though, very much appreciated.

    Thanks again,

    Winston
