Sounds like you found the perfect solution. I wish we could get out of town to determine what we need.
Fuel & water are necessary. Especially with a dog.
    Good thread. Sub'd!

Gotta take care of our best friends. Lost my dog back in '12 and circumstances(taking care of my parents)kept me from getting another, until now. Can't wait. We all need a buddy.

I swear I'm going to be full fetal under the desk when our pup crosses over. I dread that day like none other. We're taking a care package tomorrow to a local rescue that just brought 100+ abandoned dogs to Denver from Texas. Looks like a nice mount, Jer!

My way of thinking. Animals are kinda like babies. We have to read them since they can't talk to us. Babies develop communication skills that we're accustomed to. Animals in a way, go through life being heavily dependent on us, and we on them. Thus it's a different kind of loss than when we lose a human. At least that's been my experience.

Curious, what are you putting inside the 4Runner? Rotopax is cool, but I've read some interesting reviews on them. One thing I'm not a fan of is the need to "vent" them when changing altitudes and temps by a large degree - which is exactly the kind of exploring we like to do. For our uses, two Scepter water jugs, one on each side of our Yeti 65 (which sits transverse in the hatch area against the 2nd row seat backs, strapped down to the OE ties), is perfect. They nestle wonderfully on either side of the Yeti, and don't seem to move one bit. Personally, if I'm taking "survival water" I want to be sure we have a fair bit.. 10L a person should last us up to 3 days, worst case scenario. If you do decide on any water "jerry cans," these are the best IMO: https://lexingtoncontainercompanysonlinestore.mybigcommerce.com/scepter-military-water-can-10l-blue/ For significantly less $$, the "Reliance Aquatainers" also seem fine, but I went with Scepter for durability, features, and peace of mind.

    All of them.
I’ve had my share of experiences with rotopax and then expanding snd colapsing and one day I’ll switch but until then I’ll still run them until I can’t anymore. I have a 4g fuel and 2 2gal waters that go with me. Jerry’s, scepters etc are just too cumbersome and harder to deal with for me. For others may be easier but I like the multiple handles on the rotopax as well as they store flat. Not something you can easily do with Jerry’s
