Some may want to bash me for this, but, has anyone else noticed that the fastest, most phone addicted, tailgating, lane changing and reckless drivers on the road seem to be young women. I don't mention this based on a short study. I've been seeing it for a long time.

I was just going to put in all Prius drivers. Irrespective of gender age weight or education.

I know a Prius driver, and they are not in the slow lane. However, I have seen many dam Prius are slowing up traffic. So, I can agree with the all part.

In a way i am kind of glad to see these self drive cars coming out because so many people are just to pre-occupied to drive safly.

Yeh, that is one way to look at it, however, I personally will never be in a car alone that I am not in control of.
I DO understand your logic though.

Lately, it seems to be all ages, gender and race operating while texting, tailgating, speeding up and slowing down in left lane, ECT. Turn signals seem nonexistent in Maryland along with headlights when dark or inclement weather. I don't get it?? Maybe too much tech for us to handle.

Very true! I guess I could narrow my original observations down to speeding. Don't know why these little girls are in such a hurry.

Out here it’s college age kids. We have 3 universities in the area, a med school, and 7 jr colleges. I base this off of the drop in accidents when school isn’t in session.

I personally don't feel that it's specific to females. I think it's an age thing. I see a LOT of young folks, of both genders, driving wild, fast, and being generally non-observant of any sense of traffic laws. Speeding is one thing. I think that we've all done it (or should I say 'all DO it'), but it's the unsafe lane changing, being on the phone, tailgating or worse, slow in the left lane, blowing past red lights and stop signs. Everyone is always in a hurry or late to something, and they can't be inconvenienced by a back up or heavy traffic, so they think it's perfectly okay to pass on the shoulder, cut you off, or ignore intersection laws & etiquette, etc.

When I was a kid, we didn't have all the fantastic safety stuff we have today and more often than not, when someone had an accident, they were hurt pretty badly. I saw many friends crippled or dead from car accidents and it made a big impression on me. My father was a truck driver and was always bringing home horrible stories of how people were killed on the highway.

Fast forward until today, people walk away (thankfully!) from terrible crashes, because of all the safety advancements. I think that most young drivers don't think they can be killed or hurt very badly... the consequences of unsafe driving aren't quite as ominous. Couple that with the general "invincible" feeling of young drivers today, and with the technology available / need to be "always connected"... and we are where we are.

I think my least favorite drivers are the assholes in big trucks. Maybe not with phones and distractions, but just intentionally being dickheads. Tailgating, aggressive, "I'm bigger than they are" attitude, etc.

Think about what everyone has said on this thread. Those truck drivers put up with it ALL! every day, all day. They are also the ones who deliver all the Toyota goodies for us.

No, not semi trucks. Just like a lifted F-250. My dad is a retired truck driver, nothing but respect there.

I love to drive peacefully enjoying the view, listening to nice music, keeping good amount of gap with the vehicle in front and stay on the right lane when I'm not passing yet I see some impatient drivers tailgate since few years. I loved Colorado when I moved as the discipline was far better than NY & DC area. Now things are changing. Then I got this this sticker and so far seems to be working well.

I'll take aggressive drivers over the apathetic and mindless ones, at least you know they're paying attention. People's lack of awareness of what's around them astounds me sometimes, and not just on the road but in general.

How about the drivers who signal a left turn and they first swing to the RIGHT, crossing over the lane line a little, before turning left. As if they’re pulling a big ass trailer.

The biggest assholes are the slow pokes hanging out in the left lane. It's for passing. Get the fuck out of the way!

I would say the 2nd worst are the ones passing on the right, but I have done the same when some asshole is clogging up the passing lane.

There are a ton of other types of shitty drivers. I don't believe it has anything to do with gender.

Kinda boggles my mind, in that, i see so much chaos on the road, but not many accidents. In my head, it seems like you wouldn't be able to drive a block, with out a accident, yet, i drive a ass ton & have seen very very few accidents with my own eyes. Kinda a trip.

40th year of driving over the road semi, concrete mixers, quad axle dump trucks, rock hauling trucks, etc. Seen a lot of driving techniques in that time. One of the biggest "enemies" of a truck driver now days is not the aggressive driving, phone texting, lane swerving, double yellow line passing, tailgating, left lane riding car, pickup, or suv, it's probably another truck, with a driver that incorporates all the poor driving 'habits' listed. Have not had an accident in a truck in 3 and a half million miles (kind of honking my own horn, sorry), but have seen some doosies. Some due to weather, some due to piss poor driving! Let's all be careful out there.

    Here's my list of grievances:
    Slow left lane huggers.

People that speed around you on the left, cut in and force you to hit your breaks hard and then take an immediate right turn forcing you to hit your breaks hard again.

No sense of timing at all- numerous people trying to pass on inside lane but can't figure timing out so they back off and then try again. The record in my experience has been 7 times in a row.

People who do not know the laws/ etiquette/meaning of road signs.

Red light runners- record observation of 5 cars running solid red light.

Saw a woman holding her rear view mirror (apparently fell off her windshield) and applying makeup while steering with her knees.

The big one for me here in Tucson are drivers who have blown their lane shift and attempt to cut in on you by wedging their front left corner into the two feet of space between you and the car in front of you expecting you to let them in.

I knew drivers sucked here in Tucson when I observed a guy dragging a metal shed on no apparent trailer at 4AM with a rooster tail of sparks 5 feet in the air.
These are just a few of my experiences with buffoon drivers in Tucson.

There. I feel better. Rant over. Thanks.

    1. This problem definitely exists across all demographics.
    2. Left lane is for passing. Speed up or move over. WTF is wrong with you people???!!!
    3. Uh, turn signals? Hey buddy, it's that stick coming out your steering wheel column on the left. C'mon, you know the one. I'm sure you've used it before...
    4. Uh, headlights? Like, uh, you realize that headlights help other drivers see your car, they ain't just to help you see out of your car... Actually, I realize that you in fact do not know that. It's never crossed your mind. Cause you're a moron.

Aggressive drivers usually don't bother me. It's usually a sign that they're paying close attention to their surroundings. I'm of the school of thought that in driving, sometimes the best defense is a good offense. Make your intentions clear to the other drivers and assert your position on the road. The worst thing is being a mamby pamby who's so reticent and unsure, no one around you has any freakin idea what you're gonna do next.

If the aggressive driver is in a high performance car I mind it even less. The cliche about BMW drivers is true, but back when BMW was BMW and not just another luxe-barge carmaker, it was also justifiable cause the drivers really did have more control. There were things I could do safely at 110 in my M235i that I can't do safely at 70 in my 4Runner. When I see people flying, weaving, tailgating in rigs that ain't nimble and can't stop on a dime, now that makes me angry.

But the left lane dicks, turning with no signals and lack of headlights in low visibility conditions -- those things are just infuriating.
