IMG_3770.jpg ….got a friend who got rear ended in his older T4R.

It doesn’t look that bad to me, but there is a chance of it getting totaled!

Any thoughts by anyone here, going by what is visible here??

Also included is a pic of offending car that rear ended the T4R.

Probably going to need to see under the bumper cover, quotes and compare to condition/value of the victim in the first place (ex. mint vs clapped out), as “total” is a cost to repair, value of vehicle, insurance company calculation question.

seeing that rear wheel pointing where it is would have me guess totaled more than not.

The impact probably bent/broke the chopstick-sized axle links, which are replaceable.

Right rear wheel isn't pointed in the right direction and the front door appears to be out of alignment (unless it's just not closed). It's an old T4R. Wouldn't surprise me at all if repairs cost more than book value.

Years ago, while my wife was stopped for a school bus in her 2003 4Runner, she got rear ended by a crv. Totalled the CRV and we thought for sure the 4Runner was totalled as well. When the bodyshop pulled the bumper, the only evidence of an impact was a small ding on the rear crossmember about the size of a quarter and her tailpipe was cracked ( The CRVs front license plate was hanging off the 4Runners tailpipe. A new bumper and exhaust and we were good to go.
