I'm an old codger is the main reason I don't do so much work to my 4Runner. Plus, my T4R doesn't see the weather and the yuck that they spread on the roads in snow country like BC.

I do have a ton of respect for DJ and anyone else that does everything they can to make their 4Runner last as long as possible.

 

Yeah here in Alberta we get even more snow salt/sand spread on the road than in BC. (Unless you are in one of the very snowy parts of BC) My frame is pretty rusty, but not rusted through anywhere so it it what it is

 

At least spring finally came around so I can work on all the things I need to do this summer. The 4Runner needs some love lol. Spark plugs and springs to start

I just watched my fresh ditch light fall off the the curing shelf (66”) onto the 4R Garage cement, straight up like a ghost pushed that sh*t. I was eating dinner on the other side. it just finished 7-day curing before topcoat
god punishes thee.

 

Time to repaint... Again! Maybe secure them with some chain if they tend to fall?

started step 3: POR15 rust preventative “paint”. starting with couple test areas to make sure everything’s kosher

32hrs cure time. por15 adhered nicely to rear diff test areas. and just as hard to get off your skin as I remember. hoping to move forward and complete rear axle and crossmember by Sunday.

 

did the por15 in one go tnite,
axle, diff, sway bars, & more.

Damn good job dude. I want to do the same to the tundra. It’s not rusting but I’d like to prevent it from doing so. I plan to keep it til the wheels fall off.

garage dried 24 hours, optimum temperature.













4-5 days full cure.
