Wife went thru automatic carwash today and it left some deep scratches on her door near the handle. Her 2019 4runner sr5 is the deep blue color. These scratches are white they are so deep.
What is the best way to fix them? Can a detail shop fix stuff like that?

Our dealership ran ours through a brushed wash during the winter (when we were testing it.)
Before we got the Xpel wrap done we had them (not stealership!) correct the paint.
They said Toyota has some of the thinnest paint in the industry.
Take it to a good detail shop. If they cannot take it out, they should be able to tell you or not charge you if they are not able.

Let me guess; mid up the door between the mirror and door handle?

Gently rub your finger and/or finger nail to see if you can feel the scratch. If none it will buff right out. If so, 2 things, a DA polisher will make it go away(detail shop or a buddy with tools can do this)
Or a body shop can most likely sand it down, clear coat only and respray the clear. Had that happen on my 2 day old 2016 couple years back, shop made it like new.
Knock wood I had mine ceramic coated and keep a good wax on it, car wash safe so far.
If your in Chicago area I can try to buff it, I've got all the right tools/ compounds

Yes, that is exactly where the scratches are. I can definitely catch my fingernail on the scratches. She made an appointment at a detail shop that said they can buff it out.
We'll see. I think its scratched thru the color because the scratches are white.

We had a few that way.
    Detail/ paint people are artists.
    I hope for the best.
Get some before & after pics if visible.
    Thanks & good luck.

The rule of thumb, as mentioned, is if you can feel it with a fingernail it's too deep to buff out, as it's penetrated through the clear coat. You risk premature clear coat failure if you attempt to buff the scratch completely away.

You either accept "improvement" with some buffing or repaint the panel. Spot repairs with clear coat blending can be done but you want to be sure you have a reputable shop doing it. And even then, results may vary. My guess is a body shop would prefer to re-clear the entire panel, so as to assure an even finish and a content customer.

    Just realized...
    :worthless:

We need some frame of reference. A good paint person can fix a lot. I have seen it.
    It is truly amazing.
I saw a black Fisker Karma with horrible paint (swirls & scratches everywhere). A week later we go to pick up our T4R & he shows us what is possible. The car looked like it was repainted! I was speechless.

This is why we don’t use car washes!

We Xpel wrapped 90% of ours & I still hand wash it.
Touchless only if you need bugs off!:headbang:
I may have a little OCD. :der:

    How much did that run?
Thinking of doing ceramic coating but that’s another option

    Are you ready...
We did Xpel & ceramic coating.
    This is in another thread.
We plan on keeping this vehicle for at least 10 yrs.
I still feel it was worth it.
Water & rain just run off the vehicle.
A black vehicle only needs washed twice a month & has protection with a warranty.
Amazing; if it works for you.20190512_134438.jpg
