Hello! I've taken the Runner twice for this noise. It starts at 0:25-0:41 (going Forward slowly) then I put in it park (no noise), then between 0:46-0:56 (I go in Reverse slowly). There is a high pitch noise that sounds like a bearing, or pulley, or loose chain?? It drives fine, but the noise makes me nervous that it could a sign of something more serious? Any of you have this noise? What is it? Thanks.

You might need to get better audio. The only thing I can hear is the engine knock.

I listened to this with headphones on. I did not hear anything that would bother me. When your truck is moving, I did hear what I thought was the brake pads on the rotors. Normal. If your truck sits for long periods - let's say weeks - the rotors will have a small amount of rust form on the machined surfaces. The pads would "clean" this off the first time it is moved, and a person would be able to hear that.

I appreciate the feedback. The brakes themselves don't make any irregular (other than the normal) noise. It's that high pitch noise that I hear constantly. It's starting to get louder, cause I didn't use to hear it while driving. "They" checked the exhaust and plates for anything that might be loose, but they say everything is tight.

To me the noise is like a "siren" cause I'm so fine tuned into it. The truck drives fine, it's just the noise that's annoying me. The wife says to just turn the radio on to drown it out....but I need to know the source.

Well, maybe I can't hear that anymore. I was using a really good set of Sennheiser over the ear headphones, but after a 40 year career around screaming jet engines, I will admit I may not be able to hear the sound that you hear.

Turn up the stereo. If something is wrong, it will let you know in no uncertain terms.

Could this be an early sign of the infamous driver's side needle bearing on the front axle ?

rickystl, I looked at videos online about the needle bearing, and none of the noises sounded like what I hear. The noise I have is actually more passenger side.
