My '08, low mileage 4runner has showed this message in the lower left side of dash for a couple weeks now. The only other warning icon is for low tire pressure...one of the sensors is bad. The vehicle is running normal and showing no signs of problems. I maintain the vehicle with normal fluid and filter changes.

    Any thoughts ??
    Thanks, Bill

    Oooh look, another mod.....

In a 4th generation Toyota 4Runner (2003-2009), the "MAINT REQD" or "Maintenance Required" light illuminates after 5,000 miles as a reminder for routine maintenance, primarily an oil change. It's a separate indicator from the check engine light and doesn't necessarily mean there's a mechanical issue.

Sometimes, it's a low spare tire that turns the low tire pressure light on.

As mentioned on a 4th Gen T4R the "MAINT" is a notice/reminder that it's time to changed the oil and possibly do other maintenance, you can reset it yourself easily, here's a video that shows you how to do so.

Problem solved...thanks for the help guys. And thanks for not calling me a dummy and suggesting I just read my manual!
