Dash Drivers vent removal

I am trying to locate a noise, which sounds like a piece of plastic sliding on plastic, under the dash, right above where the tachometer is, roughly.
If I tap the throttle from a dead stop, something slides in there. If I tap brakes, it slides back.
I took speaker cover off, and thought I found the problem when the speakers, aftermarket powerbass S275-CF were not secured in the brackets. Pulled them out, and zipped tied one side down and tighten the 2 other bolts in there.
Nothing changed.
So, I pulled speaker out, and ensured wires were secure, did same test, still a sliding noise.
I removed stereo head unit, and my arm will not fit up to backside of dash/gauge cluster.
I would think I can tank the left AC vent out?

 

It looks like you may have a lot of excess wire that is sliding around on the plastic duct work. That and the hard plastic wire nuts/crimps. You could try reducing the length of wire by bundling it with soft fuzzy tape, and cover the hard plastics with it so they don’t slide and bang around.

I use this Tesa soft fuzzy tape sometimes for that reason.

I will look into getting something like that tape.
I did hold the speaker out, while I did the test, and it still made the noise. Camera couldnt see very good in there, from Head Unit side and from speaker mounting area.
I only hear it when no stereo is on. I will find it, I know once I get the cluster out, I will see something, If the stereo speaker wires with tape dont reduce the noise.

 

Open up the dash, and this fell out once I pulled trim from gauge cluster.

 

Ha! It looks like the screw top from a tube of adhesive. Is that from your mods back there? Or is is OEM?

 

No mods other than OEM head unit replaced with T8 Chinacrap.

My buddy bought...hold on for this one, a brand new 1978 Dodge Magnum. The car would make this weird metallic rolling noise when accelerating or slowing down. Brought it to the dealer who couldn't find the source.

We checked ourselves. Everywhere. Found a medium pizza box under the rear seat, but that was all. Dealer finally found the cause a couple of months later. Some joker at the assembly line thought it'd be a hoot to place a 1.5" steel ball into the frame where it couldn't drop out. Everytime the car accelerated, roll......clunk. Everytime the car slowed, roll......clunk.

I hope the bastard suffered from hemorrhoids 'till the day he kicked off. *grin*

 

BTW, I'm running the T9 with very good results. They've since come out with the T10, V2. Looking very promising and CT (CartrimHome) has them for sale. Sevag (owner) gives a level of after-sales service that you will NOT easily find anywhere!!!

 

I am looking at the T10. They have two version, vivid and max?
T8 works for what I use it for, hooking phone via aux cable. Sound is pretty good. But, if I turn off bluetooth, sound goes away. Strange thing is, when bluetooth is on, and I plug phone into the aux, the sound changes significantly. But turn off once blue tooth is turned off. Weird.
The 4runner is a very quiet truck. Much quieter than my 93 Corvette, 2001 CRV and 3 2015 vehicles, one being a MB. Very happy with it, with exception of this damn bumper gap... lol. Sorry for digressing.
