Every time I read up on a dash cam for the 2025 4Runner, I then find negative (concerning) reviews that steer me away from that brand.
What is the preferred front/back cam out here? Thanks for your input :)

I have the Wolfbox G850 and absolutely love it. Not only was it idiot-proof (I am living evidence), but the quality has been fantastic. I ran the front and rear cameras without any sort of modification to the vehicle. There is a nice roof-liner plug above the back window that you can utilize to mount the rear camera. I did, however, have to slightly bore out the hole on the rear camera mount for this plug to go back in.

The video and audio quality are fantastic, and the price doesn’t break the bank either. Installation and setup are superb. I will likely upgrade to the G900 for the better camera lens quality, as I find license plates can be a bit hard to read at any sort of distance. The G850 will then be installed in my Subaru. I recommended the Wolfbox to my brother, colleague, and boss, all of whom shared the same experience.

The only real recommendation I could make is purchasing their camera mount and completely replacing the OE mirror with the Wolfbox, as opposed to strapping it over top of the OE mirror. Because the camera is located on the left side of the mirror, it is nearly impossible to use the camera in mirror mode when you have the camera properly aimed out the front of the vehicle.

My understanding is that their mount should center the camera better on the windshield while still allowing you to utilize mirror mode. I simply leave the camera mode on split screen, which serves me just fine. I also have limo tint, which makes it harder to view the rear camera—especially at night.

I would go one of 2 ways. VIOFO A229 Pro since it uses Sony Starvis 2 and is well reviewed amongst enthusiasts with its recent updates or go all out on a Blackvue that fits your needs. I have both, my VIOFO is great, gets updates and is inexpensive. My Blackvue is now 12 years old and never had an issue.

I liked my Garmin Mini 2 but it failed after a year and had a random glitch where it wouldn't power on sometimes.

I outfitted the fleet and family with lower cost Viofo's and so far they seem alright but no dual camera setup.

But I also had a lot of use out of a random no name dash cam I won in a raffle so as long as it records and doesn't explode you'll be in good shape.

Remember to get a high endurance microSD card with whatever you get.

Looks like I don't have to say anything.
IMO also Viofo and Blackvue are the best and reliable.

Initially I thought not to say anything about this brand but then I thought I should not hide my bad experience.
I got FitcamX 2 channel recently. Last week I realize it has a problem of not erasing older files and recording new files. I contacted FitcamX customer support and got the new firmware. I'm still testing to see if the problem is solved or not. But I got a new issue where the wifi connection is disconnecting in about a minute. Yes I re-install the app + restart the phone just to be on safe side but no luck. If the new firmware fixed the defect of not recording new videos when card is full I care less about the wifi connection drop. I can remove the memory card and use a computer if need.
I also read after I bought FitCamX that its not real 4K video. its just 2K video upscale to 4K resolution. I found this from VotexRadar youtube review when I was trying to fix why the 4K video from FitCamX is not very clear.
Installation is also risky imo. The wire connector is thicker and not enough room inside the Toyota Safety sense camera housing. If by any chance I break any TSS wires trying to fix this I'm f'ked.

Thinkware U1000. Amazing quality. Can hardwire to work while parked. Has already paid for itself and my new bumper when a neighbor hit my vehicle while parked
