I was driving and a street grate caused some damage. Just wondering if anyone has seen damage like this and thinks I need a new frame?

looks like you will need to cut away that frame section, weld in a new one and fabricate a replacement lower link bracket.

A drainage grate popped up and destroyed my rear passenger side wheel and tire and bent that part of my frame. Freak accident but that's my luck.

Thank you. I won't be doing that myself but I was pretty sure I didn't need a whole new frame. The first shop I took it to I think was trying to gouge my insurance company. And make me wait a long time before I got to drive my new car again.

I think you will need to have that control arm mount cut off and a new one welded on. You’ll also need a new lower control arm.

I imagine that can be fixed, but it's probably going to need to be done by a frame shop, I would think. Any chance you could report this to the city and see if they'll cover the repair? Street grates aren't supposed to just jump up and damage vehicles.

Good thing it wasn't the whole hole. A collision shop could give you a repair estimate. I watched a news story about someone tampering with storm drain grates in St. Paul, MN.

Toyota sells that bracket under P/N 5150C60030 Buy from your local dealer or online at a site like https://parts.lakelandtoyota.com/p/__/3955714/5150C60030.html

A shop can torch off the old bracket with a plasma cutter and weld in the new one without much trouble.

You'll need a replacement lower link as well: https://www.rockauto.com/en/moreinfo.php?pk=10907964&cc=1445180&pt=10401&jsn=462

Contact the city to let them know that the grate fell in the hole, and the location.

Welcome Sorry this happened to you! Around here have noticed some 'loose' manhole covers when driving over.....I avoid 'em if I can.

Repairable by a good weld shop. I See rust on frame parts- post more pics of entire frame.
Have you talked with your insurance company?
Any witnesses to accident? Did you phone for a tow truck? Any traffic cams viewing the area? Did you make a police report?
You were lucky as you could have caused damage to people or other vehicles if you had lost contol. Good driving to hold steady and stop.
Your insurance may total the truck. Maybe replacing the 2019 is a better choice? Your runners value is diminished now.
I bought a 2019 SR5 for my daughter last year. A CA truck with no rust and 50,000 miles.

Its just a control arm bracket. They get beat up on these. A 4x4 fab shop can weld in a new one, its not a big deal.

    Welcome.

Find a reputable body shop with frame repair experience and let your insurance handle it.

I highly doubt it gets totaled due to a bent bracket.

Might not want insurance to handle it if it's under say $800. The parts add up for ~$100 from the links I posted.

It looks like an easier repair than a cab mount chop commonly done for tire clearance. Off-road specialty shops can do this too, even some 4WheelParts locations.

That looks like a comprehensive claim to me. Doesn’t raise your insurance if you file a claim with your insurance co.
