Borrowing a photo from a FS ad currently running:

    https://4rstatic.net/attachments/20190406_154559-jpg.31054/

Would a 1" Cornfed spacer go on top of the front coil top hat in the linked photo? If so, wouldn't the three top studs then be too short? Just trying to understand how front spacers work...it'd be nice to see a photo of an uninstalled front coil setup with a spacer on it, but not installed yet on the 4R.

I know all about coil spacers on Jeeps, but 4R suspension has me scratching my head...

This is with the Cornfed spacer already added on the front shocks. It’s on the top and bottom of the shock.

When talking about IFS, a 1/2" spacer up front provides 1" lift. Yes, the 1/2" thick spacer goes on top of the top hat. The spacers work fine with the OEM studs.

Spacers were around long before 1998 They first came out for Jeeps in the early 90s. My dad bought a new 93 Grand Cherokee, coil spring front and rear. He saw 2" spacers advertised for the front of the 86+ Cherokee, they are coil front, leaf rear. He called and asked if they worked on the rear of a Grand Cherokee but the company was unsure. He ordered 2 sets and figured he had nothing to lose. He had them in there until 2005 when he sold it. But yes David and his wife started Cornfed in the late 90s.

Looks great! What tire size would you recommend on a 2012 SR5 with a 2/1 or 2/1.5? Looking at Nitto Ridge Grapplers.

Just curious, but with the addition of these spacers has anyone seen the need for aftermarket UCA's? Secondly are their any negative effects on the CV's?

Uppers depends on how high you go. Over 2” front they are recommended for the best alignment results. As for CV angles, at 2”-2.5” you’re fine. When you hit the 3” mark they get sharp and they will of course wear faster. All part of the game though. The most common kit is the 2/1 which clears a 285/70/17 and does not require anything extra at all.

Ahh, sounds good. So if I wanted to retain factory rake I'd do 2/1.5? Are diff drops recommended with these?

2/1.5 would keep some of the factory rake. Diff drop is not needed.

Just thought I'd share my cornfed lift pics. I did this last year on my 17' trd pro. I went with the 1.5" and a 3/4" top hat spacer in the front. With a 1.5" in the rear. For tires I went with the nitto ridge grapplers in a 285/75r17 tire, still on the factory pro wheels (no spacers)

What a great fit. Rubbing was minimal, finally ended up taking off the mudflaps and still need to push the front liner forward. But it does not rub the body mount as is. I had no issues getting it realigned, still rides and handles well for me.

I made a mark and measured stock height before (number on masking tape) then took measurements to that mark after install and tires (tape measure against marked line) just to get an idea of total height increase. Just to clarify, that includes the increase in tire from factory size as well.

Would definitely recommend to anyone interested.

285/75 r17. Didnt really want new wheels, so about as wide as you can go on a stock wheel... and didnt really want wheel spacers either. Plus wanted that little extra height.
