    Morning

    Owner's manual says 100k
    Internet searches say 2 years

What are your thoughts on the real replacement interval for changing out all of the coolant? Im at 47k miles now on a 2022.

    Thanks in advance!

This is akin to doing the brake fluid every 50k or every 2 years, do whichever threshold you reach first.

I love changing out fluids to get the yuck out

For what it's worth the Car Care Nut says 50k or 5 years.

Guess what, you can even choose between just draining the radiator versus also using the block drains!

You have more leeway than with, say, engine oil at least.

Since a radiator drain/fill is so easy and gets half-ish of the coolant I'm planning to do that once every 40-50k miles, couple-to-few years.

But I'll probably end up doing it a little early if I have nothing better to do around that time.

Edit: I use Zerex Asian Red (might switch to Zerex Asian Blue to simplify purchasing, same stuff, just different dye) so anyone can follow my posts to see if anything blows up in a decade.

Yes, same one I was watching!

I tend to do early maintenance on my vehicles but I am wondering if 50kish miles is "too early".

Aside from the time it takes and the cost of the coolant, I don't see any downside of changing it early.

Im planning to do it based on time. I'm only at 29k miles but it's 4 years old now. Have the coolant on hand so I was thinking I might as well do it at 30k and plan for the next one at another 4 years or 50k miles from that change.

If you wait until some of these Toyota dealers offer 25% off and free shipping this can be done cheap if you get radiator hoses and cap and maybe the thermostat (depending on age). Although IIRC some don't ship coolant anymore. But some offer free pickup if you happen to live nearby. I did my main radiator hoses and cap with 2 gallons of coolant last year for about 70 bucks. I ordered for Serra in Alabama. I also ordered the drain kit the T4R guy uses in his video from Ama zon.

50k for radiator drain and fill is good. OEM coolant only.

    100k for the first change.

    Every 50k thereafter.

    Drain radiator and block.
