Good morning, out of the blue today both the charging warning light (battery icon) and the low tire pressure light came on. Battery is only a few months old, and I checked the tire pressure, a couple tires were a few pounds low, filled them up to 32 psi. Drove another 15 miles, no change in either light. In case it matters this is a 2007 SR5.

Everything seems normal other than these two lights being on......thoughts on what might cause such a thing? Seems strange they both came on together.

    Thanks in advance!

I would say the two are not related. You have two separate issues.

The TPMS light will come on for low tire pressure and when the battery in the sensor gets weak. The tire shops have a tool they use to find a weak battery in a TPMS sensor. Those batteries only live so long.

As far as your charging system - the battery symbol on your instrument panel indicates that the battery is not being charged. It could be the alternator or something else.

Ensure your ground wire on the battery is secure, first.

Thanks for the info, had AAA visit: battery good, (original) alternator (190k miles) bad!

Did the TPMS light extinguish? The light could've come on because the TPMS ECU wasn't getting sufficient power with the alternator failure.

Electrical issues can have bizarre symptoms but if they’re original tire pressure sensors (and assuming they’re the battery-powered kind) their time likely has come.

Typical TPMS sensor battery life is 7 years. If a 2007 had its second set of sensors expiring at this point, it would've been considered above-average battery life.
