I have a tire rubbing issue and it caused a small puncture in my tire but thankfully no air out of it. Im specifically talking about the white piece that sticks out at the bottom

That bolt holds your outer fender to the inner fender structure. You can remove the bolt and see how much the fender flops. I suspect it will move half an inch easily because the fender is wafer-thin. So cutting off the piece completely wouldn't work unless you come up with an alternate way to secure the fender.

    IMG_5891~2.jpg

You can trim the front portion of the flange all the way to the bolt though, to give you a bit extra tire clearance.

Alright, if I can trim as much as I can to the bolt it would solve all my problems

I wouldn't trim it, you should be able to bend it in, either with pliers or a hammer.

@3JOH22A is correct that’s your fender mount don’t buck it off.

    @Hashkaash
I have done this mod already on both sides:
    -trimmed valance caps
-had my guy chop off and and weld together the fender mount flanges, for tire scrub clearance.
-then ended up removing caps (permanently) and sanded and painted the exposed fender mount

*Fender mount flange bending or chopping is a very common mod that commonly goes in hand with a body mount chop.
Like @Imdav2u said, start with hammering and bending, and perhaps trim ur valance cap and reinstall it. I removed the cap and those yellow toyota plugs

Those must be some really big tires to be rubbing on the body.

Well I decided it was an amazing idea to throw some light bars under before I started modding my 4runner. Long story short lets just say I dont have them anymore

Honestly. Theyre 33s with a 3.5 inch lift. I have no idea why they rub but they do. Im running spacers so that could be the issue

As has been said here many times, a lift does not clear larger tires on independent front suspensions. Wheel and tire end up right back in the same place under compression.

Gotcha. Spacers will make it worse too, FWIW. 33s with negative offset are going to require some trimming and hacking to clear. No way around it.

See I wish I asked about the spacers before I put my kit on. I was thinking it would help it but im a bit slow. I think if I added a good half inch I could clear it lol. U think with a 1”body lift I need the extra shit that comes with it? the extended brakes and radiator kit?

I run 1.25” spacers w/ 33’s (9” wide, 0 offset wheels) and 3” lift and I rubbed same as you @Hashkaash. This setup didn’t rub until spacers catapulted me from 0mm to -32mm offset lol
Your sure ur not rubbing body mounts too a little bit under compression.

yeah, when you think about it, the spacer pushes the wheel out such that it has a larger scrub radius as it goes through its turn motion left to right, requiring more room to clear.

It could be just the body mount. Im headed to a shop tomorrow to see about if I can get some chopped off. Im really thinking it may be the body and I was just looking at it wrong.

1” body lift plus what size suspension lift?
    Prolly don’t need those extras
Either way, the body lift won’t change how you’re rubbing the body mounts, may still even contact fender mount flanges :)

Understood, ya no you’ll be fine, these things are a common chop, or there’s even weld on body mount relocation kits. But, I remember I was originally not interested in chopping my 60k truck

Yeah I mean I really would hate to do it to my runner but sometimes it has to be done. Especially for a daily.

Seems like a lot of effort to add 1-2” to the tire diameter.

Especially when you can go to 33's without any cutting or lifting (255s).

OP, just take the wheel spacers off for now.

Are you seriously running a 3.5" suspension lift? I thought 3" was the hard limit, with 2.5" being the recommended max. Think must chatter hard over bumps.

The spacers are the reason. Meanwhile I run 4th gen wheels and a skinny 33" on stock suspension with no cutting.

My Tacoma clears 35"s with no cab mount chop, but that required a lot more planning.
