Does anyone know a great and comfortable mat that will fit inside a 2018 Toyota 4Runner for car camping?

If solo camping I suggest considering a cot. I found a Oregon made cot that fits over the folded 2nd row seat and rear wheel well. I leave the 2nd row set up behind driver, it is a comfortable spot to change clothing , read, eat etc.
It is long from back of front seat to rear hatch.
Tons of storage under the cot. I use layers of backpacker mattresses on the cot. Plus
It all fits easily in garage.

We have the Lost Horizon mattress made for the Tesla Model Y. Fits exactly from the closed hatch to the center console and from door to door in the rear. A bit of a pain to roll up, but super comfortable, which is a decent trade off. Rear set bottom removal is required unless your platform is elevated. Had the Luno for a while and it was fine but sold it as it’s too short. I prefer the Lost Horizon.

Never slept on one, but Luna makes custom fit air mattresses for the 4Runner.

The one time I slept in mine, I used a z-fold pad to even out the hump. Then my normal backpacking pad on top of that.

Any chance you could measure the distance between poles and their height? Ah, those two leg Teton cots are discontinued. I think only have two sets of legs is key as they can span the gap and elevation differences won't impact the levelness. Most cots not have 3 or more sets of legs.

You might have referenced this product in your extensive review of cots.
Seems Teton was a retailer of this cot produced in Washington.

My Teton is top quality (compared to my Army cot 50 years ago). The feature that makes it fit our runners is the 4 leg placement-2 toward each end. Also no crossbar at the ends.
    Hope this helps!

Glad you found the new source. You will like the storage under the cot. I even transported a Mt. bike, upright, front wheel off and fork clamped into a flat stand. Pic below shows how I anchored forward leg end so it would not slip toward door.

When I go on the website for the Deep Sleep mattress for the 4Runner, it says the length of the mattress is 68 inches. If that is true, it's too short for anyone over 5'7" tall.

To sleep in my 4R I take out the rear seat bottoms. It appears that you do the same and that your mattress is longer than 68 inches. What am I missing?

It's 68" for the non-3rd row models. That's because that is all that will fit when the 2nd row seats are folded up. The third row models have 72" of space-but you need to level out the pad with their level kit. Better to build a platform or go with a cot as others have said.

    Thanks for the response.
So, there is a 72" version of this mattress?
When I remove the back seat bottoms and fold down the seat backs, I have about 78 inches from the tail gate to the back of the front seat. So, if there is a 72 inch version of the mattress, it might work.

Yes, the 3rd row option is longer yet shaped a little different. I had to find other pictures online showing this as their site does not have them.

The pads are meant to rest on seat backs-not float in air near the front. I have a platform I built that is about 77" long and hangs over 2nd row foot well. Last 30" folds back on itself if needed so front seats can move all the way back. I also picked up a cot and will be trying that out.

I have the cot. I used it in the 4R once and didn't like it for my type of outings which last days to a week. The problem was that on those trips I have a large Yeti cooler, which when loaded, is too heavy for me to remove without messing with my back. Then there is other gear in the back as well. All of that made it difficult get on the cot at night. Plus I felt I was sleeping in a submarine bunk with not much room between the cot and the 4R ceiling. I thought of cutting a few inches off the legs of the cot, but just went back to my mattress on the floor instead. Just my experience. YMMV:)

Oh I get that. For me, any mattress would not work as I need a very hard, almost perfectly flat surface to sleep on. The big mattresses are too soft for me.

Here are the ones I built.

I made the passenger side larger for solo trips and allows storage on the driver side as well as being able to keep the 2nd row driver side seat up if needed. The front of the platform rests on the 2nd row seat backs. Rear is elevated with varying 2x4, 4x4 blocks to achieve level depending on site levelness. Decent amount of storage under back half-good for small low profile plastic bins-less than 7" tall.
