    Greetings,

New to the forum, but not Toyotas. I used the search function, but could not find much information specific to 3 Gens related to awnings and reflective/insulating window shades. Any threads that someone can point me in the direction of?

I plan to sell my 07 Tacoma SR5 Prerunner soon and replace it with a 01-02 SR5 4runner. Any help is appreciated.

    Welcome to the forum!

I bought the all-around window shades from WeatherTech for my 5th gen. They are not exactly "insulating" but do have reflective aluminum-ish coating to keep the interior cooler during the summer.

When installed properly, it blocks out 100% of outside light. Might be something you look into.

As far as awnings, they are all pretty much generic. Get a decent roof rack and buy whatever you want.

I can't add one to a shopping cart. So probably still floating in the ocean outside of the California port.
This $70 Arb one looks to be in stock:

I know a few folks that have the Roam Awning.

Holy crap, thats a deal for an Arb awning! It does not have a big footprint, but if you got nothing, this is definitely a cheap way to get something.

Thanks for all the replies everyone! I have a lot of comparisons to do. Smittybuilt is another awning I have seen available. What are peoples personal experience with awnings they have owned/used? For me, cost is a consideration, but not at the top of the list. I want a quality piece that is durable and relatively simple to set up.

Thanks for the recommendation. Can't go wrong with Weathertech; they make nice stuff. My description of what I was looking for was slightly unclear. I'm looking for privacy/insulating window inserts that are discreet. My 4runner will be a mini camper in the spring, mostly remote, but I may be in the city at some point.

I believe there was a thread in the Gen 5 forums where someone made their own, or it was a video I saw on youtube. I might give that a shot.

The NAPA awning looks decent, although he says it's almost impossible to set it up solo. I would have been nice if he explained why, or showed the difficult setup in real time.

NAPA is definitely out of stock, probably due to supply chain issues. The Smittybuilt awning looks identical, potentially made in the same factory, and about $150 more expensive.

That ARB is a great deal, but a bit small dimension wise. I believe I looked at the ROAM website once, will check them out again.

The one cool thing about the Roam is the ability to add a room to it. The guy below is run ing a 6.5".
