The shields looked like they were never installed and the hardware was new including the washers. It might have been packed inproperly or it was a fedex special where they just probably threw the box around or somebody from there might have opened it. The box was taped with the brown paper type tape and the box clearly says cat shields. THey should have just put the name of the company on the box or even packed it in an unmarked box. I will see what happens on Monday.

I am going to ask a dumb question here. When you guys installed your cat shields did you raise the vehicle in order to get the nuts for the crossmember bolts out. I had to use an impact wrench for the brace bolts and I can't loosen the nut on the crossmember bolts. I am doing this on my driveway which has an incline.

I would watch the install video. They show you how easily these are to install. The reason I say I have my new ones I received just waiting for my new 4runner. I watched the you tube video.

@Tino I used a bottle jack to push up on the crossmember to get those bolts out. I suspect others did something similar. Also only remove one bolt at a time!

Well I got them out. They painted the bolts to the frame. I had to use a 1/2 inch 20 volt impact wrench. The milwaukee 3/8 M18 fuel was not strong enough to loosen the bolts. The funny thing is that I was able to remove the bolts without using the screwdriver. The only time that I experience tension on the crossmember is when I installed the new bolts. I tried to reposition the one at the end and had to use the screwdriver. I just did the passenger side today tomorrow I will do the drivers side. One thing I notice is that the security bolts thread in by hand on the side where it goes through the shield, but on the crossmember side you have to work them in with the impact slowly. I don't know if the originals were crossthreaded or what.

So what issues are there still with these? Rattling? I don't want to have to mod anything and no one should to make it work correctly.

What I read up on the problem was fixed. I have not added mine yet. I figured I would ask someone who recently added them.

I was wondering if the cooling fans are electric. That is the only time I felt a slight vibration like when the cooling fans turn on type of thing. I haven't heard any rattling while driving. I haven't heard anything except that one time.

Cooling fans? This is the first I've heard of cooling fans and cat shields being mentioned in the same reply...

Don't wish to create another thread for that . As for the cat shields no vibrations. I guess that is what you wanted to know. So far so good if I experience anything down the road I will post here. We don't really drive the car much for now. I only put about 50 miles since the install.

Speaking of these tubular braces, when I traded in my GX460 that had the Talon shield, I first had the Talon removed. During removal the mechanic wasn’t able to put the tubes back on as the four bolts were tossed by the original installer of the Talon (a mouthful sorry). So, I was driving around a day or two without the tubes. Then here’s the fun part, at the Toyota dealership, the shop saw the tubes in the trunk of the GX460 and brought them to me asking “do you want these?”. LMAO, “do you want these??????”. I said, “you should put them back on for the next guy.”

I had the CaliR shield on my previous 4Runner “23 4WD no-KDSS, no vibration.
Last week I received a pair of new shield, these are the hardwares in the box (I buy from 4Runner lifestyle, they always have stock).

^^^ Looks like they finally fixed the hardware package - good for you!

Update on mine - just because I like piddling, on the driver's side I put some 1/8" washers under the front and moved the rear down as much as I could. I now have a slight rattling at idle in drive, so it appears as originally installed the shields were kissing the cats just enough to prevent that. Gonna have to move it back up.
