Happy 4th weekend, everyone! So I've been busy selling crap around our house online, and my wife said I can spend whatever I make on our new rig! :D We bought our 2020 SR5 in March and I've mainly done aesthetic mods, so I'm ready for something more performance-based. I have about $400 and after debating between CAI and Pedal Commander, I've decided to go w/ CAI. I am aware that the performance gains will likely be minimal, but I love this car and plan on spending $$, over time, on anything that will give me a performance boost.

I didn't find any obvious thread like "Best CAI", but from my searches it seems that S&B and AFE are the front runners. I would really appreciate hearing from anyone who has these CAIs in their 4Runners, or any other brand you all have tried and are happy with, either with sound, performance or both. Thanks in advance!!

I'm an old fart so my TRD intake with Borla exhaust sounds fine and runs great.

I have a 5th gen 4Runner with a MagnaFlow exhaust, TRD intake and Pedal commander. Love my setup but if I were to do it over again I would of gotten a different CAI. Having all three installed makes a big difference.

Nice! That's exactly the info. I'm looking for. You seem to have the setup I'm pretty much building toward. Which CAI would you redo with? Did you choose TRD in the first place b/c there aren't many CA legal options? That seems to be part of what I'm seeing.

I went with the TRD CAI because I live in CA. I was able to skip the dealer and part it out to save some money. I wanted the AFE CAI but yea that company isnt approved for street legal use in CA.
