New guy here...first time in any 4Runner forum. Proud owner of a 2014 SR5 Premium that I bought about 3 years ago with 29k miles on it, certified pre-owned.

I have a question about anyone's experience with having a certified pre-owned Toyota serviced by an independent mechanic while it's still under warranty. My truck has only 50k miles on it, and right now I'm only driving it about 7k miles a year, which means I could be paying dealership prices for routine service for at least another 4 years. Also, I just upgraded my wheels and tires from the stock 17" to 20" and am looking to have the factory suspension lowered in the rear to match the front tire clearance which will basically eliminate the factory rake. I'm wondering if having this done would violate the terms of my warranty. If I ask these questions of anyone at Toyota, of course they would tell me to get the service done at a dealership.

    Thanks in advance.

    Welcome from Maryland :hattip:

How bout raise the front to match the back - either way it will not void any warranty- the way has been explained to me is the aftermarket parts just won’t be warranted

I do al my own maintenance on wife’s 4Runner and my 18’ tundra since new - keep all documentation- only go to the dealer for computer shit

TOO MANY - dealer / service horror stories !

Welcome. Unless you bought the extended warranty or they gave you one that goes passed the OEM 5yr/60k miles, your warranty ran out. The certified powertrain warranty only goes out 7 years from date of purchase So you still have 4 years left for that. And I agree with Blue Pearl, raise the front instead of lowering the back.
